MORE ABOUT
POP BOTTLE
August 3. 1071
Ooldthwaite Eagle
Dear 81rs:
Reading your July 20th issue
of The Eagle I was delighted to
read, "Pop Bottle Reminder Of
Pioneer Business." My husband
was the "Pioneer,” having start-
ed the Bottling Plant some 60
or 65 years ago.
I’m glad Mr: Hartley hfcs a
bottle. I have three and since It
Is to be part of a treasured col-
lection I feel sure he would like
me to correct some of the Infor-
mation given him. The looped
wire In the top was pulled up to
seal the bottle. There was a
special machine to do this. To
open the bottle one hit the wire
sharply and then as It opened
the “Pop” came.
Mr. Geeslln put In Ooldth-
walte's first light plant, manu-
factured Ice and bottled “Soda
Pop.”
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Edward (Lee) Geeslln,

much to brighten my days
while I was in the hospital.
Also a special "thank you” to

their watchful care over me and
their Interest and concern in my
return to good health.
Every act of kindness was
greatly appreciated and a great

Victor E. Koleber
Editor and Publisher
The Ooldthwaite Eagle
Dear Mr. Koleber:
What a wonderful surplse we
had in our mailbox last Friday!
I ftoked at the letters and lay-
ed the magazine and what I
thought was an advertisement
on the table. Later, I opened the
advertteament and saw that it
was "The Ooldthwaite Eagle.”
I was ao excited and sat down
and read it Then I called my
husband at work and asked him
if he had ordered the news-
paper. He had not. This vgas
quite a mystery to us. I sat down
again with the paper and read
it again very carefully, thinking
that maybe there was an article
In it that would give me a hint
as to why we received the paper.
Whenever we go to see my
parents in Prlddy, Mr. and Mrs.
Herman Kopp. we begin reading
all of their back copies of “The
Ooldthwaite Eagle.” This seems
to be a ritual that we go
through with each visit. Do you
suppose that they could be re-
sponsible for this mystery? Per-
haps they want more time to
visit and less reading?
Whoever is responsible, we
^certainly dp thank them. It is
something done out of love and
thoughtfulness and deeply ap-
preciated. We enjoy reading the
paper so much and are anxious-
ly waiting for Friday to see If
we get another copy.
People that live In Mills Coun-
ty couldn’t enjoy that paper
anymore than we do. It rather
makes one feel like they are
back home In good old Prlddy
and Mills County. We want you
to know that we think your
paper Is great but never realiz-
ed how much, until we moved
away and didn't get it.
Thanks to you for publishing
it and whoever is responsible
for sending It.
Sincerely,
Richard and Jo Ann Jeske.
