Last Night Was April 20
By M/Sgt. Daniel Inman
Next Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday will give person-
nel at Keflavik Airport the
longest day of the year. On
those three days sunrise will be
at 0301 while sunset will occur
at 2403. Weather permitting,
this will give us 21 hours and
two minutes of sunlight.
For all practical purposes
however, we have been basking
in 24 hours of daylight since
April 20. That was the day the
sun stopped going more than
6° below the horizon which
meant that we no longer had
nights—just daylight and twi-
light. This condition will con-
tinue until August 26th.
The present long periods of
daylight are in contrast to De-
cember 21, 22 and 23, when we
are scheduled to have only four
hours and 12 minutes of day-
light. On these days old sol will
deign to give us in this north-
ern latitude an audience from
1123 hours to 1535 hours.
