Levelland will be at 1 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Agape
Temple Church of God in Christ,
Lubbock. Officiating will be Bishop
W.H. Watson, pastor Agape Tem-
ple, Church of God in Christ Lub-
bock, and Elder Birtis McD. niel,
pastor, Holy Temple Church of God
in Christ, Levelland.
Burial will follow in the City of
Levelland Cemetery under the di-
rection ofjGeo. C. Price funeral
Directors.
He died at 10:50 a.m. Friday,
Oct. 6,2000 in Covenant Hospital,
Levelland, after an illness.
He was bom Apr. 14, 1918 in
Shreveport, LA, and had been a
resident of Levelland since 1985,
movina here from Mineral Wells,
TX. He served as pastor for the
Church of God in Christ at Amherst
and Littlefield. He was a member of
the Holy Temple Church of God in
Christ in Levelland. He had served
as Chaplain for Texas North West
jurisdiction.
He also was a retired detective
(robbery division) Houston Police
Dept. He married Victorine Jack-
son, July 31, 1952, in Houston, TX.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of
WWII.
He is survived by his wife,
Victorine Mackey of Levelland; one
son, Herman Mackey Jr. of San
Angelo, TX; two daughters, Donna
Sue Matthews of Hurst, TX, and
Karen Green of Levelland; six
grandchildren.

Abernathy were held Saturday,
Sept. 30, 2000, at the Abernathy
First Baptist Church.' Rev. Mike
Wilcox, pastor, officiated.
Burial followed in the
Abernathy Cemetery under the
direction of Abell Funeral Home of
Abernathy
She died on Wednesday, Sept.
21, 2000.
She was bom on May 16, 1916,
in Estelline. She graduated from
Shallowater High School in 1934
and then attended Draughns

Larry Bounds in 1986.
She is survived by three
daughters, Jean Day of Levelland,
Dolores Welch of Hot Springs Na-
tional Park, AR, and Luzell Wood
of Mabank, TX; 13 grandchildren
four of them from Levelland:
