for play at college
The cast has been announced
for the latest play sponsored by the
South Plains College Theatre
Department, Shakespeare's R&J
Cast members are Joshua
Aguirre of Littlefield, Cody
Griffiths of Whiteface, Micah
Robnett of Lubbock and Justin
Saenz of Whiteface.
An adaptation of
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
the play takes place in a private
parochial school.
The men meet to read the play
and consequently read all of the
parts themselves. There are no
period costumes, as the four men
read the play in their private school
uniforms. The play will be directed
by SPC theatre professor Gene

28 - Sun. Oct. 1. The Thursday,
Friday and Saturday performances
will begin at 8 p.m. while the
Sunday performances will start at 2
p.m. All performances will be at
the Theatre for th? Performing Arts
on the SPC Levelland campus.

$5 for students.

Day on Sunday. Sept loth. Leielland High School students from Donna
Pugh's Family and Consumer Sciences Career Preparation and Early
Childhood Professions class. Juanicc Tyson s Business Education Career
Preparation class. Donna Vernon's English II classes and Sherry Barsch's
Spanish classes arc throwing an ice cream social with karaoke for the
residents of Hickory House and their families from 3-5 p.m at Hickorv
House The ice cream social is part of a senior citizen development project
intended to encourage interaction between senior citizens and the youth of
todav Wal-Mart donated $300 for the ice cream social as part of a nation-
wide grant to help such projects m communities across the country

and piano for fun

Short courses in Voice for Fun
and Piano is for You begin
Monday (Sept. 1T) at South Plains
College in Levelland.
Voice for Fun is aimed at
helping people learn to sing or
improve the voice they have.
Focus will be on supporting the
voice, breath control and diction,
and participants will work on
selected songs. Instructor is Ruby
Moultrie, assistant professor of
music.
Piano is for You is designed to
help people learn to play the piano
or improve their skills.
Cost for both classes is $110
for half-hour lessons and S220 for
hour-long lessons throughout the
semester Class time will be
arranged.

Painting class
set at college
A short course in Oils/Pastels
for Fun Oils/Pastels for Fun begins
Tuesday (Sept. 12) at South Plains
College in Levelland.
The class will meet 7-10 p. m.
Tuesdays through Nov. 14 m the
Fine Arts Building, room 14.
Cost is $75, and instructor is
Marilyn Dewbre. Materials are not

ensemble was a bouquet of white
silk roses, silk navy mini pompons
and white larkspur with a white
bible given to her by her sister-in-
law

late maternal great-grandmother’s
pearl necklace "Something new”
was the dress "Something
borrowed” was her paternal
grandmother's diamond and
sapphire stud earrings, while
“something blue” was her garter.
Kami Betts, cousin of the bride,
served as the maid of honor Jamie
Brockman. Sherri Kinch, Stacy Lara
and Susan Wright, all friends of the
bride, served as bridesmaids Each
bridesmaid wore 'a sleeveless dress
of empire design made from navy
crepe with a scoop neckline of navy
Venice lace and an empire
waistline. Their bouquets had cream
silk roses, navy silk mini pompons
and navy and cream silk Liatris

groomsmen. The groom wore a
black formal cut-away tuxedo with
long tails, a navy vest and a black
bow tie. His attendants were
dressed in black short tailed formal
tuxedos with navy vests and black
bow ties also
Anna, Casey, daughter of the
groom, served as flower girl. Chris
Betts and David Patton, cousins of
the bride, served as ushers.
Francesca Giovannetli and Betsy
Bremer, both friends of the couple,
served as candle lighters. Stacy
Clark, friend of the bride, registered
■guests.
The communion rail was draped
with ivy and roses with navy and
cream bows. On top of two white
columns sat two silver candelabras,
both have a navy candle in the
center with four cream candles
surrounding it. Bows, alternating in
navy and cream colors, were on
each pew down the aisle.
Ruth Giovannettti provided the
music for the wedding. The parents
and grandparents entered to Martin
Luther s "The JEvening Prayer.”
Bridesmaids and groomsmen
entered to Pachelbel's "Canon in
D.” The bride's entrance was to the
Lutheran hymn "O Perfect Love.”
For the recessional, Bach’s ‘Jesu,
Joy of Man’s Desiring” was played.

The bride’s table had a white
tablecloth and a floral arrangement
of white, navy and cream roses in a
silver vase. The table, featured a
three-tiered cake. Each tier was
separated by clear columns and two
staircases trailed from the second
tier to a cake on each side of the
center cake. The cake was topped
with a glass blown creation in a
heart-shape with small glass doyes
on top, bells under the doves, and a
cross with two small wedding rings
attached. The cake was white with
butter cream frosting and navy
confectionary fkJwers. Also served
on the table was punch and cream
colored mints. Servers for the
bride’s table were Leslie Harwood,
Stacy Clark and Melissa Harkins.
The groom’s table had a cream
tablecloth with a cream colored
vase, filled with navy and cream
roses Model cars decorated the
table. The table featured a chocolate
cake with chocolate-covered
strawberries. Nuts, wedding cookies
and coffee were also served on the
table Servers for the groom’s table
were Francesca Giovannetti and
Gene Messer Toyota iri Lubbock.
The couple will honeymoon in
Las Vegas and then make their
home in Lubbock after they return.
Bridal Courtesies
On July 23, 2000, a bridal
shower \yas held at the home of
Mary and Glen Borland in
Ropesville. On Aug. 13, 2000, a
bridal shower was held at Shepherd
of the Plains Church in Lubbock.
On Aug. 26, 2000, a lingerie
shower was given by the
bridesmaids at the home of Jamie
Brockman
