Roughnecks steam
past Wilson, 65-35
The Sundown Roughnecks
notched another victory to their
record when they steam rolled past
Wilson 65-35 this past Tuesday
evening. The Roughnecks are 2-0
for the y£ar.
Sundown set the pace of the
game early. They used fast-breaks
and sure-shooting in the first quar-
ter to lead 19-3 at the buzzer.
Sundown worked on a different
defense in the second quarter as
both teams matched points. Sun-
down led 28-12 at the break.
The Roughnecks came out in
the second half and controlled both
ends of the basketball court rolling
to the 30-point victory.
Willis Hogan was high point
man for Sundown with 17. Chris
Brown added 12 points.
Sundown competed in the
Brownfield tournament this past
weekend. They will be at Floydada
on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

SJHS boys lose
two tough games
Antelopes struggle
against O'Donnell
The Whiteface Antelopes suf-
fered a slight let-down in the middle
quarters of last Tuesday night’s
game against O’Donnell. They tried
a comeback in the final quarter but
could not overcome the deficit by
the final buzzer losing 84-81 to the
Tagles.
Whiteface burned the net in the
first quarter with five 3-point shots
for a 22-17 lead. Tommy Arguijo
had three of them, Jarred Ericson
and Tim A Imager with one apiece.
O'Donnell turned the tables on
Whiteface in the second and third
quarters to lead 64-54 going into
the final period.
Whiteface hit a couple of big 3-
point shots down the homestretch
but could not come away with the
victory.
Cy Cribbs led the Antelopes
with 23 points. Tommy Arguijo and
Matt Ellison had 13 points each and
Anthony Arguijo ended with 12
points.
Whiteface is now 3-1 for the
season. They were competing in the
Anton Tournament over the week-
end. They will host Seagraves on
Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Lady Bulldogs lose
I he Anton Lady Bulldogs suf-
fered a 44-27 loss to the aggressive
Whitharral Lady Panthers on Tues-
day the 28‘".
Anton fought hard against
Whitharral but could not keep up
the fast-pace and smothering de-
fense.
Whitharral led 12-6 in the first
quarter.
Julie Gorski helped to bring
Anton back in the second period
with six of the 12 points.
Whitharral took over control of
the game once again in the second
half and did not relent.

The Sundown eighth grade
Roughnecks have fought in two
tough contests since the start of the
season. Sundown lost to Idalou 38-
30 and fell to Post two weeks later,
28-14.
Sundown and Idalou battled to
a double overtime contest before
Idalou came away with the 38-30
win.
Sundown had the first quarter
lead, 3-2. Idalou came back and
pulled out to a 10-7 lead at the
break.
Idalou continued to lead
through the third quarter, 17-11.
Sundown pulled together down
the stretch and tied the contest at
20-20 by the end of regulation.
Both teams matched points in
the first overtime for a 27-27 game.
Sundown struggled to get their
shots to fall in the second overtime
scoring only three points.
Idalou found their mark for 11
points and-the win.
Craig Hopper led Sundown
with nine points.
Sundown and Post felt one
another out in the first quarter of
play for a 4-4 tie.
Post began to pull away in the
second quarter and continued to pad
their lead through the second half of
action for the 28-14 win.
Sundown was led by Macken-
zie Franklin with six points.
Sundown eighth grade will be
at New Deal on Monday, Dec. 4.

The Anton Bulldogs began the
basketball season on Nov. 21 with a
73-72 win over Kress. They came
out the following week and fell to
Tulia 44-40.
The Bulldogs used teamwork
and strong outside shooting to top
Kress.
Beau Riker ended with 21
points. Michael Wilson added 16
points and Rene Martinez had 12
points.
Tulia forced the Bulldogs into
a different style of play this past
Tuesday.
Anton struggled with rebound-
ing and shot percentage throughout
the course of the game.
Tulia had control of the reigns
in the first half and held on through
the second half for the 44-40 win.
Riker ended with 12 points.
Anton hosted a tournament this
past weekend. They will be at
Amherst on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

SHS improves record
The Sundown Roughettes have
shown improvement with each bas-
eball game after opening the sea-
son with two losses. The
Roughettes picked up their third
straight victory last Tuesday night
when they rolled past Wilson, 54-
28.
Sundown’s defense smothered
Wilson in the first quarter holding
them to only four points.
The Roughette offense built off
the defense and came away with 11
points for the first period.
By the second period,
Sundown’s momentum was in high
gear. They poured in 22 points
while the defense held Wilson to
only three points.
The second half was more of a
controlled game as Sundown
worked on different strategies. The
Roughette defense remained strong
to help lead to the 54-28 final.
Ashley Perez was high point
for Sundown with 13. Marquita
Franklin ended with 10 points.
The Roughettes are 3-2 for the
season. They were competing in the
Brownfield tournament this past
weekend. They will be at Floydada
on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

SHS JV beats
LCHS, 41-26
The Sundown Junior Varsity
Roughnecks beat Lubbock Chris-
tian High School 41 -26 on Nov. 21
and beat Wilson on the 28lh, 44-20.
Sundown jumped on LCHS in
the first quarter by a score of 15-4.
They added to their lead by the half.
LCHS tried to come back on
Sundown in the second half but the
Roughneck defense prevailed.
Juan Posadas was high point
player for the Roughnecks with 12.
Sundown’s defense proved too
powerful for Wilson in the first
quarter of play. Sundown led 16-2
going into the second period.
Sundown’s scoring was dovyn
in the second and fourth quarters
but a 14 point third quarter helped
toward the eventual victory.
Robbie Snead was high point
player for the game with 13. .
