A RECESSION CAN TEACH
LESSONS IN BASIC
VALUES
Nearly every nation occasionally suffers a
period of economic downturn called a reces-
sion. It can come from a variety or combina-
tion of causes, including a war or even a
threat of war, or an international energy
crisis. It can also be started by irresponsible
talk, causing people to be fearful of spending
their money, even for the things they need.
This results in the loss of jobs and tax rev-
enues, as well as general financial chaos. The
remedy is to adopt a wise spending program,
but otherwise ignore the "gloom and doom"
prophets. Also, attend your House of Wor-
ship. The good times always return even-
tually, and meanwhile, some priceless les-
sons in basic values have been learned
through faith, in counting our blessings.
If we live good lives,
the times are good.
As we are, such are
the times.

whom thou chasteneth

him rest from the
days of adversity."
