Services for Thomas P. Bara,
Sr., 74, of Levelland were held at 2
p.m. Friday, April 28 at St.
Michael s C atholic Church with
Father Glenn Rosendale officiating.
Rosary was held at 7 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday at Head
Family Funeral Home C'hapel.
Bunal was in the City of
Levelland Cemetery under the
direction of Head Family Funeral
Home.
He died Tuesday, April 25,
2000 in Lubbock.
He was bom April 4, 1926 in
Brady. He married Celia Chavarria
on June 20, 1955 in Levelland.
He was a self-employed
handyman and also worked for
Worley Welding. He lived in Texas
all of his life and in Levelland for
the past 33 years. He was a member
of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Celia Bara of Levelland; a
daughter, Sally B. Cissell of
Bardstown, Kentucky; three sons:
Roger Bara and Stanley Bara, both
of Levelland and Steve Bara of
Lubbock; a brother, Pete Bara of
Sunnyville, California and four
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, a brother, and a son,
Thomas Bara.
Pallbearers were Manuel
Mendez, Freddy Gomez, Mike
Worley, Candelano Castillo,
Richard Bara and Severo Bara.

Music fests
will be held
at SPC
Student ensembles in the
Creative Arts Department at South
Plains College will be showcased
this week in three days of music
fests.
The music shows will be
broadcast live at 6 p.m. Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday (May 1-3
on SPC-TV, cable channel 10 (The
Learning Channel) to cableviewers
in Levelland, Littlefield, Morton
and Brownfield.
, Country Fest, scheduled
Monday (May 1) will feature
ensembles such as Restless Festus,
Sons of the Playboys, The Gypsies,
South Plains Playboys, Squeegee
Love, Riverstone, l^ad
Mayonnaise, The Beagles and
Country Jukebox.
The Rockfest, set for Tuesday
(May 2) will feature Belushi’s
College, Plan D, Touring
Ensemble, Ear Candy, M Perfect
and Pinbus.
The R&B fest Wednesday
(May 3) will feature When the Dog
Bites, Four O’clock R&B
Ensemble, Phat Pocket, Studio
Ensemble, Mike’s R&B Ensemble
and Government Trained Killers.

Levelland for 12 years, lohn attended West Texas State University for two years.
Wood lives with his wife Gwyneth Wood and they have 3 sons, Miclieal (51)
and Stephen (3d) Wood of Levelland and David Wood (48) of Huntsville.
lohn is a member of the Lions Club and the First United Methodist Church. He
is active with-Hockley County Senior Citizens and serves with Meals on Wheels
twice a week and when needed. ■,
When asked what he likes most about Levelland, Wood answered, "the nice
friendly people."
