The Levelland J. C.’s, in
cooperation with the Citi-
zens Service League, this
week picked their Christmas
family of the year.
As is the proceedure the
family’s name is not givep
out, but they are showered
with prese its.
Wednesday morning, of last
week, a pickup, loaded with
gifts--a beautiful doll to
make a little girl happy, and
numerous other toys, a
Christmas Tree with all
the decoration and a huge
supply of groceries was
parked a the U. 8. piscount
Center while Larry liobgood,
Gary Stacy and Hank Kirsh-
ner loaded in many more
items, and with this went a
$50gift certificate.
This is an annual affair in
which some needy family is
picked by the J. C.’s as
their family, and to see that
Santa Claus visits them, and
leases plenty when he •
makes the visit.
They are to be commended
for this unselfish act of
kindness which brings hap-
piness to a home which
might not be happy but for
the gifts furnished b" this
worthy organization.

JAY CEE CHRISTMAS FAMILY
Levelland Jaycees, Henry Kirschner, Larry Hobgood, and Cary Stacy are
shown with a pickup loaded with toys, gifts and food that they and some 10
other members presented to a deserving family. As one of them put it, *The
look in those kid's faces sure made it all worthwhile.” Photo by Photocraft.
DIPTHERIA SHOTS GIVEN

by health arid school officials for immuniration against diphtheria. Only last

The courthouse lawn was
literally covered with child-
ren on Wednesday afternoon
of this week. They were
waiting for booster shots
and innoculations, given at
the County Health Annex
Office, against the dread
disease, Diphtheria.
This past week one case
of Diphtheria was responsi-
ble for the death of a five
year old child in a Level-
land hospital.
To be sure that no more
cases would appear, immed-
iate steps were taken to
innoculate children who had
not received the shots and
to give booster shots to
those who needed them.
These shots are furnished
by the County Health Unit
and are given without cost.
