and plans were made to observe
this special day on Dec. 4.
The program on “Letter from
Congo” was presented by Bobbie
Sanders, describing the departure
of missionaire of Disciples of
Christ from the new Republic of
the Congo, this summer as one
of the most dramatic yet tragic
events in the history of the Disci-
ple missions.
Mrs. M. H. Powers led the Bi-
ble study concluding the Book of
Psalms.
During the social hour,

A harvest theme predominated
Friday in the ball room of the
San Andres Hotel for a bridge
luncheon given by Mrs. Ray Wat-
son, Mrs. W. L. Harris and Mrs.
Clyde Grappe.
Large cornucopias filled with
fall leaves, crab apples, grapes
and other harvest items were
featured throughout the entertain-
ment room and centering the
small tables were miniature corn-
ucopias filled with artificial fruit.
The oak leaf tallies further car-
ried out the theme for the bridge
session which followed the lunch-
eon.
