Loboette eighth graders improve overall record
The Levelland eighth grade
Loboettes improved their records at
the start of the new year when they
swept Frenship in two very intense
ball games. The ‘A’ team won 49-
44 and the ‘B’ team ended with a
34-30 victory.
The ‘A’ team did a good job of
sinking the free throws when given
the opportunity. They completed
53% of their attempts compared to
32% for the Tigerettes.
Levelland outgunned FrenshiD
in the first quarter 11-5 behind the
lead of Valerie Saldana.
Frenship responded in the sec-
ond quarter but gained only a point
on Levelland scoring 10-9.
Levelland maintained their overall
lead, 25-15. Nicole Jones kept the
Loboettes on top with her points
from the charity stripe.
Saldana found the pot-o-gold in
the third quarter and led the
Loboettes to an 18-I4 quarter. She
had 11 of the points.
Frenship tried to take over in
the final period but did not shoot
well from the free throw line.
Saldana led the team with 21
points. Jennifer Pena scored nine
points, Kim Brackens added eight
points, Jones with six points,
Jessica Johnson and Tesha Arant
with two points each and Gabs
Paxton with a point.
The ‘A’ team is 7-2 for the
season.
The ‘B’ team used their time at
the free throw line as well to top the
Tigerettes. Levelland completed 12
out of 19 attempts compared to six
out of 15 for Frenship.
Levelland shared their shots in
the first quarter to lead 11-6.
Frenship outscored the
Loboettes in the second and third
quarters but by only a couple of
points. Levelland remained on top,
26-23.
The free throw shooting of
Erica Montez in the final period
helped Levelland to ward off
Frenship in the final minutes of the
game and end with the victory.
Montez finished with 21 points.
Ashley Cowan had eight points, season.
WJHS improves record
Cassie Cavazos and Chrystal
Landrum with two points each and
Rocio Rodriguez with a point.
The ‘B’ team is 6-0 for the

Lady Panthers improved their re-
cord to 8-l and 5-0 in district after

hand for the game so her teammates
fed her the ball. She paced her team
throughout each quarter and ended
with 20 points.
Stacia Dukatnik added five
points for the game.
