Water Authority To
Hold Public Hearing
The Red River Authority of
Texas will hold a Water Quality
Management Public Hearing on
November 19, 1974 in Canyon,
Texas, in the Student Activity
Center of West Texas State Uni-
versity. The Public Hearing is
in compliance with orders of the
Federal Environmental Protection
Agency.
The agenda for the Public Hear-
ing includes the following: Red
River Basin Water Quality Mana-
gement Plan and Red River Au-
thority of Texas. Approval of
Base Studies Report by Texas
Water Quality Board and propos-
ed Red River Basin Public Hear-
ing on completed Water Quality
Management Plan. The complet-
ed Base Studies Report and sched-
ule for work on Water Quality
Management Report. Discussion
of Base Studies Report for ap-
proval by Advisory Committees.
Approval of Basin Goals and Base
Studies Report by Advisory Com-
mittees and General Public dis-
cussion and questions and an-
nouncements.
Mr. Felix Ryals is a public
member of the Red River Au-
thority.

TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
Teacher from the White
Deer and Skellytown Inde-
pendent School District joined
other educators in Amarillo
last Friday for the annual con-
vention of the Texas State
Teachers Association District
XVT held in the Amarillo Civic
Center Coliseum. Students re-
ceived a holiday from classes
because of the meeting.
The theme of the convention
this year was "Changing to Me-
et the Future. " Justin Wilson,
the Cajun humorist, from Lo-
uisiana, was the featured speak-
er in the morning's general ses-
sion.
The Area I FFA officers, Tam
Terry, Dale Berry and Ronnie
Williams, President-of White
Deer FFA, presented the flags
in a very impressive ceremony
according to R. T. Laurie, FFA
Advisor.
The report from the House
of Delegates which was held
on Thursday evening was del-
ivered to the teachers at the
general session.
R. T. Laurie was elected
State Committeeman from
District XVI, House of Dele-
gates.
Following the meeting,
teachers attented sectional
sessions at meeting places in
Am arillo.
DELTA KAPPA GAMMA
SOCIETY HOLDS CHAPTER
MEETING IN PANHANDLE
Theta Delta Chapter of the
Delta Kappa Gamma Society
met Saturday, November 9th
in the Heritage Room of the
First National Bank of Panhandle
for an interesting program fol-
lowed by the monthly business
meeting.
The Tonettes of the First Bap-
tist Church under the direction
of Mary Ruth Smith introduced
the program with "The Happy
Wanderer" and other songs.
Girls in this singing group are
Susan Murray, Annette Milli-
can, Michelle Levitt, Karen
Williams, Rhonda Vaughn,Janet
Yarbrough, and Tonya Sesebee.
The theme of the program was
The Woman Educator - Expand-
ing Her Horizons". Mrs. Calvin
Murray showed slides and told
of her cycle trip through Eng-
land, Holland, and Belgium
last summer.
Mrs. J. R. Hogge, who with
her husband last summer toured
eight European countries, showed
slides mainly of flowers in Hol-
land and churches in all the
countries visited.
Miss Clauda Everly concluded
the program with an account of
her trip to Korea and Japan in
the 1973 Evangelistic Crusade
comprised of Christians from this
area of Texas.
Hostesses for the coffee were
Mrs. I. E. Padget, Mrs. Charles
Burk, and Miss Marjorie Ewing.
