"The Crazy Sitter”, starring Beverly D'Angelo as the title
character, is an offbeat comedy that takes a satirical swat at
Yuppie parents, television talk shows, and the prison system.
Ed Begley Jr. and Carol Kane play the self centered flaky
‘parents of two spoiled brats. Mom and Dad are in need of a
nanny because the kids have succeeded in running that last one
back to Nicaragua. In steps Edie, fresh out of prison, to assume
the role while Mom and uad leave for Paris. Edie wears Mom's
clothes, cleans out the fridge, and watches daytime TV, where
she learns Of-the monetary value of kidnapped children. Armed
with this information she tries in vain to sell the brats, soon
; realizing they need some polish to make them saleable, While
; Edie whips them Into shape, they whip her into shape. The
madcap adventure^ involved in trying to sell, then having to
• rescue two eight year olds make this movie worth watching. It is
rated PG-13 because of Edie's language. There is no violence
and no nudity.
• Harvey Keitel displays his excellent acting talent as Ray Wyler
;ln "Imaginary Crimes:.”. When Ray's wife (played by Kelly
’ Lynch) dies, the lives of his two daughters begin to unravel.
•Ray is a smooth talking, obsessive/compulsive, ne'er-do-well
jeon man who chases one mining scheme after another until he
lie finally brought to bare in the final scenes of the movie. Ray's
-story is told through the eyes of his 18-year-old daughter,
Sonya. While this movie is bare of action, the dialogue and
mood keep you watching as the tension slowly builds. This
movie is rated PG and contains no violence, or nudity, but is
qxinkled liberally with mild profanity. Both of these films are
available at Mann's Video Club, 163 Mann Street, Bridge city.
Mann's is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

So many times I welched as the faithful church organist would
quietly take her place, and reach for the keyboard. At her
funeral, I calculated that in the seven years I was at Hamshire.
Lovte Fischer was at the organ over 1,000 times. The prelude
that she most often chose was that rich hymn by John Greenieaf
Whittier, "Immortal love, forever tuH, forever flowring free; Forever
shared, forever whole; A never-ebbing sea.”
How very worshipful her music was. She never called
attention to herself. It seemed that her goal was always to move
the congelation toward the Divine Presence.
For I believe she knew, as Whittier knew, that "We may not
climb the heavenly steps to bring the Lord Christ down; In vain
we search the lowest deeps, for Him no depths can drown...
"But warm, sweet, tender, even yet, a present help is He..."
God, you know, dear reader, is a present help. He is not far from
any of us. "For in Him we Hve and move, and have our being.”
God is so very near. He loves you so very much, whoever you
are, wherever you are. Seek His presence today, dear friend.
He wants you to find Him.
He said "And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, whom you search
for Me with all your heart." The noblest search we ever embark
upon is when we bow in secret, and try by faith to touch the "God
of the Spirits of all flesh."
I read somewhere, "Man's knees were made to bend that he
might acknowledge his great need for help from above."
A gospel song writer asked, "How long has it been since you
talked with the Lord, and told Him your heart's hidden
secret...How long since you prayed, how long since you
stayed...On your knees till the light shone through?"
Reach out this morning and touch Him. "The healing of His
seamless dress, is by our beds of pain; We touch Him in life's
throng and press, and we are whole again."
"O Lord and Master of us all, whate’er our name or sign; We
own Thy sway, we hear Thy call, we teat our lives by thine."
(Whittier)
Annie S. Hawks, a housewife wrote, "I need Thee every hour,
most gracious Lord; No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless
me now, my Saviour, I come to Thee."
Blind George Matheson, one of Scotland's great preachers,
wrote in 1882, "O Love, that will not let me go, I rest my weary
soul in Thee; I give Thee back the life I owe, That in thine
ocean depths it's flow may richer, fuller be."
Immortal love, immortal love. "Praise God for immortal love."
