Former White Deer Resident Found Murdered Near Dallas
Former White Deer resident
Doyle Harry Ward, Jr. , may
have been involved in an "under-
world killing, " according to Dal-
las County sheriff's deputies after
his shooting death Friday.
Wardj 34, a former Pampa
resident, football star for Pampa
High School and a student of
West Texas State University, was
found dead Friday morning on a
Farm-to-market road in northeast
Dallas.
His wife, Beverly, will be re-
membered in “White Deer as a
former homemaking teacher
from 1962 to 1967.
Ward had been shot four times,
once in the mouth, once in the
chest, and twice in the abdomen.
Both Dallas and Tarrant County
sherriff's deputies have joined
in the search for Ward's murderer.
Dallas deputies called Ward's
death a homicide after results
of an autopsy were announced.
The autopsy showed that his body
was found on the roadside but
that he bled to death as a result
of his wounds.
Ward was facing charges in
Tarrant County in connection
with a boat theft ring, and offi-
cers are investigating possible
links between the charges and
the murder.
Ward left his Euless home at
7:30 a. m. Thursday after he
received a phone call from au
unknown person. He had told his
wife, Beverly, he would call her
by noon that day.
Euless is located approximately
10 miles east of Irving, a suburb
of Dallas.
When Ward had not called nor
returned home by evening, his
wife notified Euless police who
in turn notified both Dallas and
Tarrant County sheriff's officers.
Ward's body was found by a man
on his way to-work.

investigation for Dallas County
