undersigned has been appointed
Independent Executrix of the
Estate of Bernard R. Weaks, on
March 11, 1963, by the County
Court of Carson County, Texas,
in Probate Cause No. 1801, and
qualified as such on said date.
All persons having claims
against said estate are hereby re-
quired to present the same to me
within the time prescribed by law.

Pvt Leon H. Brewer
Completes Recruit
Duty at San Diego
Marine Private Leon H. Brew-
er, son of Mrs. Florence A. Mose-
ley of Route 1, White Deer, has
completed recruit training at the
Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San
Diego, California.
The indoctrination to Marine
Corps life includes instruction in
basic military law, discipline,
physical conditioning, and other
military subjects.
Three weeks are spent on the
rifle range, where recruits fire the
M-4 rifle and receive instruction
on other infantry weapons.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bennett at-
tended the wedding of their
granddaughter, Miss Deanna Sue
Phillips, in Amarillo last Friday
evening.
Sandra Redwine and her room-
mate, Jean Cook, students at Tex-
as Tech, spent the weekend with
Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Redwine and
Dwain.
Family Church
Night Series Due
For Presbyterians

The Family Church Night ser-
ies of Mission Studies began last
Wednesday evening with a cover-
ed dish meal at 6:30 p.m. A sim-
ilar series of studies will meet at
6:30 p.m. each Wednesday eve-
ning in this month. Everyone is
invited.

The theme for this series is
“The Church’s Mission to Per-
sons of Special Need.’’ The items
included are The Physically
Handicapped, The Mentally Re-
tarded, The Mentally 111, The
Emotionally Disturbed, The Ag-
ing, Youth in Conflict With the
Law, The Alcoholics, The Gam-
blers, The Exceptionally Gifted,
and others in need.
The men of the church brought j
the lesson for the first study last
Wednesday. The women will pre-
sent the one for this week. The
youth group will have it the next
week, and will present a film on
“Six Ways to Spell Love.”
Forty-two were present for the
first session.
Mrs. Hubbard, who is Mission-
ary Education Chairman, is plan-
ning the programs each week.
Anyone will be welcome. A cov-
ered dish meal will be served at
6:30 p.m. each Wednesday this
month.
Spending the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bal-
lard, was Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy W.
Bennett and Cindi of Brownfield,
Texas. They also visited other rel-
atives here.
Mrs. Barbara Booth is a patient
in the Groom Memorial Hospital
having undergone surgery.

! Receives Award
Of Ford Motor Co.
George W. Taylor of Richard-
son Motor Company, White Deer
Ford dealership, will be present-
ed Ford Motor Company’s 300-500
Club award at a banquet at the
Skirvin Tower Hotel in Oklahoma
City on March 16 honoring high-
ranking Ford dealership car and
truck salesmen of 1962 in the Ok-
lahoma City District.
A. F. Love, district sales man-
ager, said 300-500 Club member-
ship awards are presented for ex-
cellent retail sales performance.
The 300-500 Club was formed in
1950 to recognize the perform-
j ance of outstanding Ford sales-
i men throughout the country.
Mr. Love added that the aver-
age 300-500 Club member sold
nearly $400,000 worth of automo-
tive merchandise in qualifying for
the national honors.
Eighth Grade News

The White Deer Junior High
volleyball teams will go to Groom
today for their tournament. They
will be dismissed from school at
noon. The Little Does play Claude
at 2:00 and the Little Bucks will
play Claude at 2:45 p.m. Teams
playing in the tournament are
White Deer, Panhandle, Groom
and Claude boys and girls.
After the tournament the Lit-
tle Bucks will start their track
season. The Little Does will con-
tinue volleyball and particpate in
the District 1AA Tournament
which will be held in White Deer
later this month.
Hoe & Hope Garden
Club Hold Election
For New Officers
The Floe and Hope Garden Club
met in regular meeting March 11
with Mrs. Stella Stone presiding.
Election of officers was held.
New officers for the coming year
are as follows: Mrs. Stella Stone,
president; Mrs. Jean Burch, first
vice-president; Mrs. Myrtle Pot-
ter, second vice-president; Mrs.
Billie Nash, secretary-treasurer;
Mrs. Mavis Cavett, reporter.
Landscaping of the library
grounds is underway and plans
were completed to put a purplfe
lilac hedge at the south side of
the building and cedars to be
planted at the two back corners
of the property. Climbing red
roses will be planted near the air
conditioner.
A new year is starting next
month for the Garden Club and an
invitation is extended to anyone
interested to come and join us.
Membership fee is $1.00 per year.

tha Peters, Dorothy Poe, Dolah
Tucker, Jean Burch, Myrtle Pot-
ter, Fannie Barnett, Mavis Ca-
vett.
NEED A DRIVER’S LICENSE?
The Sheriff’s Office would like
to inform the residents of White
Deer that the Drivers License Pa-
trolman will be in Panhandle on
the second and fourth Tuesdays
of each month to give drivers tests.
