My beloved Wllle bought me a stand up bird feeder so I
can lookout the windows and watch the bards. In just the
two weeks IVe had the windows. I've seen Mourning
Doves. Blue Jays. Cardinals. Sparrows that God watches,
and Grackels. IVe also seen Roy Dunn, as the wtadows
face his office.
The Blue Jays chase off the Cardinals. The Grackels
in such numbers they chase off the Blue Jays.
Noth** chases cfT the Sparrows. (As 1 said. God watches
the Sparrows.) I an stil waiting far a MochtngNrd- You
know, ounce far ounce, they are probably the toughest
bird there Is. Sort of a Johnny Montagne of the bird
family
I also have a rabb* that lives In the woods between me
?nH the S-R-H. f»n«i I thsik he hides during the heat of
the day. so I don't see him much.
By the way. congratulations to Roy Dunn for his
appointment to the Sahftw Pilots Association He'D make a
good member.

These yoang people meet every

teer Hie Department’s central sta-
tion located on Bland and Roberts
Streets.

The group is affihatrd with the
Boy Scoots of America Yoaag
Adnk Division and is sponsored by
the Bridge Oty Volunteer Rre asd
Rescue Service. They fofiow the
same rigorous training as the
regular firefighters do except on a
leaser time table. Same of the basic
taught to the Fire Ex-
plorers are first aid, fire scene re-
hab, assisting fire fighters as
needed at a major alarm and
numerous public relations wort.
The Explorers have regular
roadae dories they perform both at
the fire station md at the fire scene.
AD operating exprnsrs far the Ex-
plorers are generated from fund
raisers that the kids put oa themsel-
ves. Funds are used to purchase
uniforms, patches and pay for field
trips. The Explorers would like to
dunk Wal-Mart for allowing them
to use the parking lot for its recent
fill a boot campaign and to thank
those that donated generously.
The next fund raiser will be Satur-
day, July 9, when they will have a
combination car wash and bar-
becue link sale.
Any boy or girl between the ages
of 15 and 21 interested in joining
the Fire Explorers is invited to
come by the Fire station any
