MARY WHATLEY DUNBAR
EDITOR AND PUBLISHER ,
To the People of the 17th
Congressional District
I desire to take this method of
expressing my thanks and appre-
ciation for the wonderful vote that
was cast in my behalf last Satur-
day, July 27th. 1 shall always
treasure thjs manifestation of con-
fidence and friendship as one of
the finest compliments 1 have ever
received.
I appreciate the fact that my
home county gave me the largest
percentage vote in the district.
'They gave me sixty-seven percent
over all my opponents; while my
opponent, who is now in the run-
off, received only fifty-seven per
cent of the votes in his home coun-
ty.
1 am deeply grateful for the
hundreds of people who are writ-
ing me, volunteering their support
and aid, for the hundreds which
have come to my office and home
and pledged their aid and efforts
in my behalf- These good pepple
who voted for my opponents that
were eliminated and who have
pledged to me their aid and efforts
to the extent that my candidacy
will be placed before all the people.
It is impossible for me to answer
all these: letters and communica-
tions now, however, just as quick
as it is physically possible, 1 will
acknowledge personally each and
every letter, card and telegram that
has been received.
I shall do my utmost to se6 as
many of the voters as possible and
try to visit each and every box in
the district. In the meantime, how-
ever, I takq this method and here
now solicit the vote and-influence
and personal efforts of all the
voters of the district.. With all my
mm—mm
friends, old and new, organized
into one great force, we will win
by an overwhelming majority; and
when we win, it will be our greatest
delight to serve the greatest people
on earth —YOU. 1 am,
Respectfully yours,
SAM RUSSELL.

Although 1 carried two out of th£
three counties comprising the 29th
Judicial District, according to re-
turns I received, my opponent re-
ceived 6889 votes and 1 received
6089 votes. For this splendid en-
dorsement and for the fine support
given me by so many friends, 1
want to express my sincere thanks
and appreciation. 1 only wish it
were possible to personally see and
thank my many supporters for their
loyal support.
Toward those who did not sup-
port me for personal reasons or
otherwise, may 1 say, .1 hold no ill
feeling jfi my heart. And I sincere-
ly hope my opppnent may have a
successful administration, and want
to congratulate him upon his sue-
cess.
Frankly, 1 feel we were not un-
successful, for we were qjore than
repaid by the addition of .such a
large number, of fine friends.
These friends will ever be cherish-
ed and we sincerely hope that our
friends will always remember us
with the same degree of loyalty
tendered us during the campaign.
Sincerely yours,
J. Carroll McConnell

My wife and young son join me in the ex-
pression of.our thanks to you for the support that
was given me last Saturday in my race for County
Attorney. It is an humble and yet joyous feeling
to get a substantial majority in ones home town,
and the only way to try to repay such a debt - of
gratitude is to try to make the’ best officer possible.
