Elementary Students
Have Safety Session
The school cafeteria was the
scene of a safety session for
elementary students in grades
1-8 on Wednesday of last
week. The Safety session was
given by Officer Dan Hatcher
of the Texas Department of
Public Safety. Highway Pa-
trolman Hatcher, of Pampa,
showed a film entitled "The
Day the Bicycles Disappeared"
and handed out Pamphlets enti-
tled "Bicyclist's Book of Rules. "
Elementary Principal Albert
Thomas says the School is
trying to help with the problem
of student safety created by
the national change to Daylight
Savings Time, as students
come to school before sunrise.
If we can get through the next
two or three weeks, the problem
will have taken care of itself
to some extent. Mr. Thomas
encourages parents to take care
in instructing their children to
be extra cautious in the dark
as well as the daylight horns
in coming and going around
the school buildings. He also
asks parents and other local
residents to be especially watch-
ful for our hard to see early
morning spooks and scholars.

Cowbelles Meet
In Pampa Jan. 7
The Top O' Texas CowBelles
held their monthly meeting on
January 7 in Pampa, Texas at
the Coronado Inn, Pampa Club.
The Pampa CowBelles were
hostesses for the 'lovely beef
luncheon. About 45 members
and guests attended the meeting
and luncheon.
The guest speaker for the lun-
cheon was Mrs. Mildred Prince,
Home Economist for Southwes- >
tern Public Service Company
of PnmDa. Using two Micro-
Wave ovens which had been
set up for the occasion, she
demonstrated cooking tech-
niques. We were told steaks
take only 3 minutes on each
side to cook and were astonished
to learn a meat loaf will cook
in 15 minutes. The meat she
cooked was awarded to the
CowBelle who drove the longest
distance and to the newest
member.
A lovely door prize was award-
ed to Brs. Butch Adcock from
Hedley.
There have been numberous
ways the CowBelles have tried
to support the Beef Industry.
They have begun by educating
all they can contact through
booths at fairs, giving out lit-
erature, and through local
schools. They have spoken out
when the Beef Industry was
under projected and actual un-
fair legislation. The Top O'
Texas CowBelles are striving
to do their part*
