Club has Fall Fiesta
Surgery Patient
Harry Hughes underwent
surgery recently in the High-
land General Hospital in
Pampa.
Tops Club Plans
Christmas Party, Dec. 5
' The TOPS Club #255 of
Skellytown met on Monday
evening at 6:30 p. m. in the
Library with six members pres-
ent.
The meeting was opened by
Mrs. Fannie Coleman, co-
leader, in the absence of
Mrs. Cecile Grange of White
Deer. Minutes were read by
Mrs. Juanita McCarthy. The
weight loss for the week was
eight pounds with Mrs. Odell
Hassler being crowned Queen
by Mrs. Leila Cummings.
The inspirational thought was
given by Mrs. Sadie Lane who
spoke on "Oh,Lord, Make Me
Easy To Live With. "
Plans for the annual Christ-
mas exchange of gifts was
finalized. This will occur at
hues interpersed with bright
blue straw flowers and fresh
coral carnations. The napkins
echoed matching color? of
the centerpiece. Sterling
platters were used with the
sterling coffee service.
Hostesses served a variety of
fruit breads with Hot Apple
Cider and Coffee. Approx-
imately 55 guests registered.
Nupital vows will be solemized
for the couple on December 22
in the First Baptist Church of
White Deer. The couple are
both employed by the Peccs
Independent School District.
Members of Venado Blanco
Study Club were feted with a
Fall Fiesta party November 21
when they met in Fellowship
Hall of the United Methodist
Church. Intimate groupings
were featured with votive
candlelight. Miniature crepe
paper pumpkins highlighted a
seasonal theme in the table
decor. Members were served a
buffet style with an arrangement was a potted plant of rich green
of coleus featured on the serv-
ing table. A Mexican dish
"Fiesta" was served with sour
cream tacos, pralines, coffee
and tea.
Program Chairman Sara
Wheeley presented Mrs. Janie
Bowers who introduced a film-
ing of the National Cowboy
Hall of Fame located on
Persimmon Hill in Oklahoma
City. The introductory nar-
ration of the film was given
by actor Joel McCray with the
background music by Edwin
Berstein. "Janie Saxon Bowers,
a native of Miami, Texas, "
is somewhat of a legend her-
self with deep roots in the Top
Of Texas. "She and her hus-
band Paul reared three children
while developing a cattle and
wheat farming operation twenty
miles from Pampa. Since
Paul's death in 1974 she has
continued to raise whe:at,
grain sorghams.... often oper-
ates the combine herself."
The business session was
conducted by Koel McKay.
Roll call was a sharing of
Thanksgiving poetry or family
memories of the holiday.
Fourteen members the fall
party. Santa Project plans will
be finalized when members
meet December 5.

With Bridal Shower
Sally Keeton, bride elect of
Van Robert Dodd, was the
honoree at a bridal shower
Saturday morning, November
19, in the Memorial Parlor
of the First Baptist Church.
The bride's chosen colors of
royal blue with earth tones
were used in the serving table
decor. The table featured an
organza cloth. The center-
piece, a gift to the honoree.

ember 5, at 6:30 p.m.
