Mr. and Mrs. Randy Cole
(Jeanne Thomas ) of Panhandle
announce the birth of daughter,
Crystal Kay. She weighed in
at 7 lbs. 2 oz. Crystal has a
brother named Zane, age 3.
Grandparents are Earl Cole of
Panhandle and Mrs. Jerry
Thomas of Pampa. Great
’grandparent is Mrs. Jeanne
Bisset of Pampa.
Skellytown Lions
Discuss Carnival
The Skellytown Lions Club
met for their regular bi-monthly
meeting on Monday evening
at the Corner Cafe. This was
their first meeting in October.
Mr. Kenneth Cox, Boss Lion,
opened the meeting. The pray-
er and the pledge of allegiance
was led by Lion P. M. Cousins.

tips on taking care of your
clothes.
Guests enjoying the program
were Mrs. Connie Ward and
Mrs. Agnes Jones. Members
attending included Nita Ram-
ming, Leia Wheeler, Rosa
Jones, Rosie Kirby, Kathy
Gist and hostess Laura Dow-
ney.
The next meeting will be
October 18, 1:30 p. m. in the
Lions Club of White Deer. Mr.
Blasingame brought an inspir-
ational message based on the
truths of the Bible.
White Deer was also the host
for the first Lions Zone meet-
ing of the year for Zone 2,
comprising the Lions Club of
White Deer, Skellytown, Groom
Claude and Panhandle. Steve
Campbell the first First United
Methodist Church Pastor of
Groom presided over the Zone
Meeting. Campbell is serving
as Zone Chairman for Zone 2,
Region 1, Lions International.
Projects and goals of the Clubs
are directed toward the better-
ment of the communities in
which the Clubs are located.
The goal for the year for
Lions International is "People
Serving People".
President W.C. Powers of
the White Deer Lions Club
announced that Barney Wiegand, The ciub ' discussed participation

Amy Nicole' Blodgett
Feted At Baby Shower
Mrs. Bobby Blodgett and
Amy Nicole1 were honored
with a baby shower in the home
of Mrs. Kent Kelp on Monday
night, Sept. 26. The shower
was given by the Alpha Theta
Omega, which is one of the
traditions fo Beta Sigma Phi.
Mrs. Blodgett was also presented
the traditional baby spoon with
the Bet Sigma Phi emblem on
it.
A pink and blue cake with a
bassinet in the center, ‘rimmed
with baby booties and rattlers,
nuts, mints and sherbet punch
were served to the following
members: Doris Freeman, Mary
Phillips, Melanie Nicholson,
Betty Gregg, Joy Grange, Jack-
ie Cobler, Cecilia Bohannon,
Sharon McConnell and the host-
esses, Vickie Kelp, Linda Kal-
ka, Sam Kotara, Carol Jean
Kotara, Cheryl Lanhan and
Jeri Blodgett.

Rusty and Dusty Armstrong,
Dean and Donnie Bennett,
Suann and Terry O'Neal were
all home over the week-end

The annual meeting of the
County Judges' and Commis-
sioners' Association of Texas
will be October 18-20 in
Dan Antonio. Addresses by
various state officials will
highlight the conference,
including a keynote address
by Gov. Dolph Briscoe. Rock-
wall County Judge Derwood
Wimpee serves as president
of the association. Mayor
Virgil James will be attending
the meeting representing the
White Deer City Council.
Amarillo Chamber of Com-
merce, would bring the prog-
ram next week. Baxter Haley
served as Program Chairman
for last week.
District Governor Felix W.
Ryals of District 2-T1 gave a
report on the U.S.A. Lions
Forum held in Chicago last
week.
