Area Rally Day
Take Pounds Off Sensibly
#255 held their regular weekly
meeting in the Skellytown
Library on Monday evening,
October 10, at 6:30 p. m. The
meeting was called to order by
the leader Mrs. Cecile Grange
of White Deer, with the recit-
ation of the TOPS pledge and
the singing of the Fellowship
song. Minutes of the previous
meeting were read by Mrs. D.
C. McCarthy. Plans for the
up-coming Area Rally Day to
be held in Pampa on Oct. 22,
at 8:30 a. m. were discussed.
Six members and one visitor
were present.

Mrs. Mary Cousins
Holds Story Hour
"Granny Mary's Bible Story
Hour" was conducted on
Saturday, October 8, at 10:00
a.m. at 106 Fourth Street in
Skellytown. Stories told were
"The Last Words", which was
presented by a filmstrip, and
"The Golden Calf. " Bible
games were also played.
Refreshments were served to
Darla Woodward, Julie and
Rusty Gortmaker, Yavonne,
Cindy, and Debbie Lymbemer,
Brenda and Angela Brume low,
and Mary Cousins.
All children between the ages
of three and twelve are invited
to attend on October 15, from
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p. m.
This will be a hobo party to
honor all birthdays.
Ladies Attend
Painting Session
The Palette Club met for
the weekly painting session
Monday, October 10, 1-4 p. m.
at the Community Center.
Mr. Dave Beck was the
instructor from Amarillo and
brought several ideas with him.
The class is working on Aspen
scenes and next will be on
flowers.
Attending the session were:
Cora Price, Donna Moreland,
Nita Davis, Viola Coffee,
Debbie Phillips, LaDonna
Ramming, Cinda Lafferty,
D.J. Frost, Francis Keeton,
Laura Downey, Mary McCloud
and Lennie Shair. The
next meeting will be Oct. 17,
1-4 p. m. at the Community
Center.
Venado Blanco Club
Has Puppet Show
The Venado Blanco Study
Club met Monday, October 3
in the First Baptist Church
parlor.
Carolyn Immel was in charge
of the program for the evening.
! She brought "The Living Proof
Puppeteers" froin the First
Baptist Church in Pampa, under
the direction of Mr. Garry
Schawlk, Minister of Outreach.
The members of this group
were Kenneth Taylor, Stephen
Glover, Kathy White, Chris
Alexander, Janine Van Kluye,
Teresa Taylor and Craig Cone.
The Puppeteers played the
’ guitar, piano, and drums.
These animated characters
sang "Jesus Loves the Little
Children", "God Cares" and
"Everything is Beautiful". They
gave a skit, "Zackory Dackory",
a court trial pertaining to the
organs of the body and how
they are abused.
Roll call was answered by
each member showing a picture
of their grandparents and tell-
ing something they remembered
about them.
The hostesses, Laverne Sat-
terwhite and Yvonne Thomas,
_ served "Good Luck" almond
cake. Shirley Kelley found
the lucky almond in her piece
of cake. Other members
present were Mmes: Paul Buch-
anan, Baxter Haley, James
Hinkley, Dwight Huffman,
Rod Immel, Clifton Kelley,
Lee Lockridge, Rex McKay,
Grady Milton, R.J. Sailor,
Roy Simmons, Jim Weese,

and one guest, Mrs. Oleta

Methodist Women
Host Luncheon
The Community Fellowship
Luncheon was held Thursday,
October 6, at the new Com-
munity Center. The United
Methodist Women were host-
esses for the function.
Rev. Stan Cosby, pastor of
the Methodist Church, asked
. the blessing before the buffet
style meal was served. The
table decorations were fur-
nished by Mr. Clyde Holland.
These included giant pine
cones and pyracantha brought
from California especially
for the ocassion.
Mrs. George Coffee read a
tribute to the month of October
at the meeting.
Those honored for having
their birthdays "during the month
of October were Amber Collis
and Thelma Freeman.
Mrs. Bruce Martin, Jr., Mrs.
Larry Elledge and Mrs. Steven
Warnminski, members of the
All Around Homemakers H.D.
Club, took the groups blood
pressure free as a community
1 service.
Attending the fellowship

Holds Model Meeting
Alpha Theta Omega chapter
of the Beta Sigma Phi held its
"Model Meeting", October 6
in the Community Center.
Cheryl Lanham told the story
of Beta Sigma Phi to the guest,
“Linda Paul, Julie Abernethy,
Glenda Steed, Freddie Walker,
Tonya Freeman and Darlene
Sugar. The club also had a
seance explaining the different
committes to the guest.
Loyce Cofer and Betty Gregg
gave the program on "Marr-
iage".
Refreshments were served by
the hostesses Vickie Kelp,
Melanie Nicholson and Doris
Freeman.

Keiurn From Vacation ■
Mrs. Laura Ballard returned ’
home the first of the week
after vacationing in the north
country. She was accompanied
on part of her trip by her niece
Janet and her husband, Kurt
Linder. They spent two nights
in Brush, Colorado with Mr.
Linders parents and then
motored on to Alaska, where
they will be making the ir
home. Mrs. Ballard spent a
few days in Spokane, Washington
with her son Jerald and family.
She returned home by plane ,
on Monday, Oct. 10. She
reports that the foliage was
just beautiful in Wyoming and
Montana.
Services Held For
Homer T. Holton, 85
Funeral services for Mr.
Homer T. Holton, 85, were
conducted on Thursday after-
noon, October 6, 1977, at
2 o'clock from the Primitive
Baptist Church in Wellington
with Elder V. R. Henderson
officiating. Burial was in the
Memorail Gardens north of
Wellington with grandsons as
pall bearers. Mr. Holton was
a member of the Primitive
Baptist Church in Wellington.
Mr. Holton's survivors in-
clude the widow Mrs. Mattie
Holton, Wellington; four
daughters, Mrs. Sam (Jackie)
Lester, Skellytown, Mrs. Mary
Darrow, Shamrock, Mrs. Ollie
Johnson, Idalou, and Mrs.
Marie MacFarland, Wacojtwo
sons, Howard of Wellington,
and Thomas of Greenwich,
Conn.; three stepdaughters,
one sister, one brother, along
with nineteen grandchildren,
thirty-three great grandchildren '
and one great-great grandchild.
Guests Of Hinkleys
Visitors in the James Hinkley
home over the week-end were
Mrs. Hinkley's sister and family
the Don Bradleys of Lubbock.
They arrived here ir time for
the game between the Bucks
and the Elks.
