The Mustangs put together a
good drive just before half time
Glover’s thirty yard pass to
Guillory gave the blue and
white a first down on the Eagle
thirteen yard line. Glover sped
around right end for an
apparent touchdown but the
men in black and white ruled
that the Mustangs were guilty of
backfield in motion and the play
was called back. A pass fell
incomplete on the next play as
the first half came to an end
The second half developed
into a hard hitting defensive
struggled Neither team ser-
iously threated as fumbles,
penalties and stubborn defenses
took their toll
DOESN’T LOOK LIKE MUCH NOW but the Ingleside Community Swimming Pool came
another step closer to being a reality yesterday when Perry Construction delivered 15 tons
of reinforcement rods to the pool site at Eaith Park. Perry is one of the companies which has
volunteered labor for the swimming pool. Father Charles Doherty, spearheading the
swimming pool effort, said the committee is now awaiting lab results on the soil at the
proposed site before the groundwork begins.

Ingleside Mustangs opened
the 1976 football season Friday
night with a 6-0 victory over the
Woodsboro Eagles. Showers
which fell prior to the game left
the field in Woodsboro in
treacherous condition. Both
teams were plagued by fumbles
but the wet field probably hurt
the Mustangs more than it did
the Eagles.
Ingleside moved the ball
well all night and displayed a
well balanced offensive attack
with 156 yards rushing and 53
yards via t.ie airways. The
slippery turf and costly penal
ties kept the score from
mounting.
Aubie Glover, senior quarter-
back, directed the blue and
white offensive show He was
assisted in the backfield by
Leon Camp. Tommy Muse.
Gary Shedd. Jean Guillory and
Russell Wilson.
Camp, a hard running sopho
more, was the leading rusher

cellent return of the second half
kickoff up to the I.H.S.
forty-three.yard line. However,
the Mustangs fumbled the ball
away at midfield
One promising second half
drive by the Mustangs was
killed after a twenty-seven yard
pass to Muse was called back.
Woodsboro had no penetra-
tions and only five first downs.
Two of their first downs came
on penalties The Mustang
defensive linemen, Lloyd Allen,
Chris Hosmer, Ed Rowe and
Aaron Burleson did a fine job
Linebackers Jerry Eddings,
Noe Jimenez and Howard Curry
all had moments of glory
winning scores for
graders.
Cherie Abel led
for the eighth graders
games against Taft Miss Abel
contributed a total of 18 points
The eighth graders beat Taft
in the first game 15-3 and in the
second game 15-6

holding the Eagles to only four
completions in twenty-one
passing attempts

with 88 yards on 27 carries
Glover ran for 82 yards and one
touchdown and was three for
eleven in the passing depart-
ment | .
The longest gain
scrimmage was made by
Guillory on a pass play that
netted thirty yards Muse used
his speed to return four kicks
for sixty yards
An early scoring opportunity
occurred for the Mustangs when
a badly centered Woodsboro
punt attempt gave the ball to
Ingleside on the Eagle thirty-
four yard line A fumble re
covery by Woodsboro ended this
threat however.
In the second quarter Muse
returned a Woodsboro punt
about thirty-six yards to the
Eagle thirty-eight yard line
Muse almost broke away on the
run which seemed to have
really gotten the Mustangs fired
up From there Glover directed
the blue and whit^ to the
Woodsboro goal line in seven
plays, all on the ground
The drive was highlighted by
Glover’s keepers around end
On fourth and two at the W H S.
thirty, Glover sliced around left
end for nine yards to the Eagle
twenty-one On the very next
play he scampered around right
end for twelve yards to set up a
first and goal situation at the
Woodsboro eight yard line.
The touchdown came on a five
yard dash by Glover around left
end. The extra point attempt
was not good but the Mustangs
had all the points they needed to
defeat Woodsboro with 8:37 left
in the second quarter
Another second quarter scor-
ing opportunity for the Mus-
tangs presented itself when the
Eagles fumbled at their own
twenty-three yard line I.H.S.
was unable to cash in however

Miss Burge has, in previous
years, accompanied students to
Europe. She is urging anyone
who is interested in going along,
to contact her for details.
That just about wraps up the
activities of the school year's

correcting a personal oversight

ooooooooooo
Mud! Mud! Mud!
This describes, to a “T”, the
conditions of last Friday’s
Ingleside-Woodsboro clash in
Woodsboro. There was mud on
the field, mud off the field, and
mud everywhere in-between.
Now this, no doubt, provided
the ultimate setting for a child’s
delight - but for the players and
performers of the evening, it
provided a dismal site for
action
Those with shoulder pads and
face masks, along with those
with overlays and plumed hats,
furnished a grand show of
“entertainment” for onlooking
fans - football players sliding
uncontrollably to make first
downs, and band members
marching to a tempo, of a
somewhat, one-two-threeeeeee-
four, beat.
I, myself, received quite a
scare, when my compadre,
Terri Henderson, and I turned
to do our thing after the band’s
fanfare. My first step sent me
slipping precariously down the
yard line. I somehow managed
to regain my stature, and was
able to continue the show, with
the feeling that I had, at least,
equaled a balancing act of
Romania’s Comaneci.
Nevertheless, Ingleside did
return home victorious, having
defeated Woodsboro by a score
of 6-0 Senior quarterback Aubie
Glover was responsible for the
touchdown, on a five yard run.
Glover is one of four Mustang
team captains. The other three
are also seniors. They are
David Jiminez, Bud Nelson, and
Steve Ballard
On the subject of seniors:
Cherished senior rings arrived
last week, and can be seen
flashing proudly on many a
hand

were held last week, with a
total of twenty-eight represen
tatives being elected This
year’s president is a junior,
Sheryl Hendricks The vice

with Cathy De La Cruz serving
oooooooooc
as secretary. (The election of
officers was held last spring)

as Senior representatives are

Steve Wright, Julie Ehmann,
Maureen Gondeck, and Debbie
Donald.

Andrews, Luanne Snyder, and
Genie Murphy.
Those elected by the sopho
more class are Teresa Mc-
Intyre, Sherri Matthews, Steve
Nix, Cliff Hendricks, Alma
Tamburin, Kellye Simmons,
and Jeff Belser
The largest block of repre-
sentatives comes from the
freshman class, with David
Miller, Jimmy Mircovich, Lucy
McGinnis, Kurt Willoughby,
Becky Doreck, Lillie Adame,
Nadine Douglas, Beth Snyder,
and Richard De La Cruz, being
