given. All Knights are to take
part in the Christ, the King
procession at Hallettsville Sun-
day, October 26.
The council made a cash con-
tribution towards the purchase
of necessary furniture in the
new rectory.
Memorial services will be
held Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:30
p.m. in the Catholic parish gym.
Members are asked to attend
this impressive service on that
night.

Emil Bartos and his orchestra
furnished the music. The altar
flowers and various arrange-
ments of fall flowers were used
in the dining hall where supper
was served. Mrs. Ervin Zim-
merman presided at the bride’s
register.
Mrs. Elton Zander served the
four tiered square confection,
which was topped with a minia-
ture bride and groom and deco-
corated sugar spun bridal or-
naments. She was assisted by
Misses Betty Jean and Ange-
line Winkenkerder and Wyonna
Hoerig.
After a wedding trip to Gal-
veston they are at home at 1015
So. St. Mary’s St., San Antonio.
For travel the bride was wear-
ing a light blue suit with
matching accessories.
The bride attended Shiner
High School, and is employed
at Handy Andy store No. 4. The
groom graduated from San Mar-
cos in 1948. He served two years
in the army with overseas
duty in Korea. He is employed
at Fort Sam Houston.

Dietert, in a double ring cere-
mony performed at United Dr.
Martin Luther Church, Shiner,
Saturday, October 4 at 3:30 p.m.
The Rev. Edwin J. Oehlke of-
ficiated.
The altar was adorned with
arrangements of white pom-
poms. Miss Sandra Jo Ward
played the wedding music. Eu-
gene and Darwin Dietert sang
“ O Perfect Love” and “The
Lord’s Prayer”.
Witnesses were Elton Syam-
ken of Shiner and Albert Fisch-
beck of New Braunfels.
Ushers were Alfred Syamken
Jr., Erwin Zimmerman, Nor-
man Fischbeck and Armo Die-
tert. Miss Dorothy Syamken of
New Braunfels presided at the
church register.
The bride given in marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
white satin, lace and tulle. The
figurine bodice of lace featured
a scalloped neckline encrusted
with seed pearl designs. The
tapered sleeves of lace came to
points over the hands and were
closed with self covered buttons.

carried a bouquet of white pom-
poms centered with a large
mum. She wore a single strand

lyn Syamken of Shiner in white

were Mrs. David Dietert of San
Marcos in pink, Miss Adeline
Wehmeyer of San Antonio in
blue and Miss Dorothy Hoerig
of Houston in yellow.
Groomsmen were Bennie
Syamken of Shiner, Milton
Petri of San Antonio, Willie
Randow of Seguin.
Ringbearer was Dennis
Wayne Zimmerman of Victoria.
He carried the rings on a white
heart shaped satin pillow. Flow-
er girl was Katherine Ellen
Bruns of Shiner, in white.
She carried a basket of pom
poms.
All of the maids wore balle-
rina length dresses of identical
design. The net over taffeta
gowns were completely encir-
cled with rows of double net
ruffles on the' fitted basque
waists and three tiered bouf-
fant skirts. They wore matching

fels, San Antonio, Houston, Vic-
toria, Weimar, Moulton, Red-
wood, Seguin and Yoakum.

loops, stem pearls and orange
blossoms. She carried a mother
-of pearl bridal missal, gift from
the groom, topped with a cas-
cade bouquet of stephanotis
centered with a yellow throated
orchid. Bows and streamers of
satin ribbon completed the ar-
rangement.
The entire bridal ensemble
was designed by the bride and
created by her sister, Mrs. M. L.
Schrieber of San Antonio.
Serving as matron of honor
was Mrs. Marian Pilaar of Aus-
tin, maid of honor was Miss
Gretchen Frisch of Austin and
bridesmaids were Misses Alice
Ann Vacek of Austin and Janice
Hrncir of San Antonio.
Her attendants were attired
in identical floor length gowns
of champagne chiffon over
toast brown taffeta, styled with
high necklines that featured
soft horizontal pleats. The back
was accented with a
draped neckline. The
gathered skirts flowed
the fitted bodices.
Their headdresses were cir-
cular crowns of upright loops
covered with champagne ny-
lon and they carried cascade
bouquets of bronze pom-poms
intertwined with lace ferns.
Bows and short streamers of
talisman ribbon completed the
arrangement. Bronze colored
earrings, gifts from the bride,
were worn.
Serving as witnesses were
the bride’s brothers-in-law, M.
L. Schreiber of San Antonio
and W. A. Hobbs of Columbus.
Best man was Raymond
Quintero of Austin, groomsmen
were Joe Kouba Jr. of Austin,
John Amato and Paul Bradly
Guidry of Bergstrom Air Force
Base, Austin. Ushers were Ray-
mond E. Lucera, Austin, and
John Tyndell, Bergstrom AFB.
The groom and attendants wore
midnight blue tuxedoes with
bronze pom-poms boutonnieres.
The groom chose a boutonniere
of stephanotis.
The bride’s mother wore a
black rayon shantung dress with
pink and black accessories,
while the groom’s mother chose
navy blue with black and white
accessories. Pink p o m-p o m
corsages completed their at-
tire.
The fathers of the bridal pair
also wore pink pom-pom bou-
tonnieres in their coat lapels.
A reception dinner was served
at. the Catholic Parish Gym.
The bride’s table was simply
decorated with bronze pom-
pom arrangements at either
end. The wedding cake
served as the centerpiece. The
white square confection held
sugar spun rosettes with silver
beads, with pink rosettes at the
base. The cake was encircled
with a white ruffle satin, lace
and net. The cake was made
and decorated by the bride’s
aunts, Mrs. Adolph Stiborek of
Shiner. Mrs. John T. Fulcher of
San Antonio presided at the
bride’s register.
Rudy Kurtz and his orchestra
furnished musical entertain-
ment during the reception.
After a wedding trip to the
Ozark mountain region, Illinois
and other mid-western states,
the newlyweds will reside at

served Columbus Day Sunday,
October 12 by attending Holy
Mass with their families in a
body and received Holy Com-
munion. All were seated in the
front pews of the church. Fol-
lowing church services all de-
parted for the Parish Gym
where breakfast was served to
all members and their families.
Some three hundred participat-
ed in this, the first Corporate
Communion and breakfast.
Robert Stluka had charge of
preparing breakfast. He had
some of the Catholic Daughters
helping him in serving.

Hermann Sons Meet
Shiner Lodge No. 20 met
October 20 at 7:30 p.m. Presi-
dent Henry Schierschwitz open-
ed the meeting with the ritual.
The guide took the password
.and reported all eligible. While
the flags were being brought to
their stations, the Pledge of Al-
legiance was recited by the
group. “America” was also sung.
Recording secretary, Annie
Balusek, called the roll of the
executive board reporting only
one absent. Minutes stood ap-
proved as read. Financial sec-
retary-treasurer, Gladys Muel-
ler, gave the monthly finan-
cial report.
Reception of new members
was held. New members are Lee
Roy Weber, Alice Deharde,
Anna and Albert Kohl.
Cheer committee reported
having sent a cheer card to
Frank Tasler. Sympathy cards
were sent to Mr. and Mrs. Al-
bert Muenich, Mr. and Mrs.
Emil Kahanek.
Mrs. Emilie Sommerlatte re-
ported on the Fun Day Social
to be held Sunday, October 26
at the Hermann Sons Hall be-
ginning at 3 p.m. All kinds of
entertainment is being planned.
With the civlian salute, the
flags were escorted out and
the president closed the meet-
ing according to ritual to open
again November 17 at 7:30 p.m.
A delicious lunch of ,cake
sandwiches, cookies, potato
chips and refreshments was en-
joyed by all.

of Shiner, became the bride of
Clarence Roznovsky of Hous-
ton, son of Mrs. Victor Foster
of Shiner, and the late Jim
Roznovsky, Saturday, October
18 at 8:00 o’clock in the Sts.
Cyril and Methodius’ Catholic
Church.
The Rev. Father John J. Ha-
nacek officiated at the marriage
ceremony and was celebrant of
the Nuptial Mass. Witnesses
were Ernest Hajek and James
Roznovsky.
The altar held arrangements
of white asters and greenery.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, looked lovely in
her gown of French lace over
satin, fashioned with a Peter
Pan collar and yoke outlined
with seed pearls. The basque
waist, fitted with sleeves, was
closed down the back with sat-
in covered buttons. The bouf-
fant skirt was of lace and end-
ed in a chapel train. A fluted
tulle flounce added fulness to
the entire costume at the bot-
tom skirt. Her veil of illusion
was fastened to a tiara of pearls
and pearlized sequins. A string
of pearls and matching pearl
ear-bobs, gift of the groom, was
also worn. Her bouquet was a
purple orchid surrounded with
white carnations, tulle and sat-
in streamers over a white pray-
er book.
The groom and witnesses
wore business suits with white
carnation boutonnieres.
The mothers of the couple
both wore navy blue dresses
with white carnation corsages.
A reception was held at
Legion Park with dinner and
supper being served. The wed-
ding cake was a round confec-
tion, embossed with pastel
flowers and topped with a min-
iature bride and groom.
For the past year the bride
has been employed at Wagner
Hospital.
The couple will make their
home in Houston.

Mary Ann Woolfolk of San An-
tonio were weekend home-
comers.
