Ballinger, held one of the most
successful meetings of the season
at Wil meth. The crowd was an
unusually large one and every-
thing was ripe for a good meeting
and a good meeting was the re-

and Messrs. Wite and Den-
man. The resignation of
Goethals and White was an-
nounced early in the day,
and later Mr. Denman resign-
ed at the request of the Pres-
ident.
Admiral Capps, naval con-
structor, as been appointed to
succeed Gen. Goethals, and Bain-
bridge Colsby of New York city,
will succeed Captain White. Ed-
win Hurley, of Chicago, has been
named as chairman of the ship-
ping board.

dent in a letter and promised full-

going into session today it was an-
nounced that the automatic tax
board would fix the tax rate at
thirty-five cents on the $100 val-
uation. This is fifteen cents high-

under the constitution.
State Treasurer J. M. Edwards,

the university appropriation was
