The Washington County
Society held it* regular
meeting Thursday evening
Chamber of Commerce room. There
was a fair attendance. -
The newly elected officers were in-
stalled and soutine business was at-
tended to. Several case reports were
discussed, and Dr Guy Knolle, the
essayist for the evening, lectured on
the uses, action- and properties of
digitalis. His talk.was .very interest-
ing'and was enjoyed by all present.
Digitalis (Foxglove) is one of our
most useful drugs. It is used in the
treatment of certain diseased conditi-
ons of the heart, and is one of the
many drugs, that when properly yiv-
en, can be depended upon to do just
what is expected of it. The doctor
using digitalis, must know* the exact
condition of the heart and he must
know just how much of the drug he
can use in a certain length
as the drug has a tendency
mutate in the system; so if
fully watched, it will after
produce a too powerful action and
thus become harmful and dangerous.
