—War-time scenes were recalled here
Tuesday when chlorine gas escaping
from a tank car on a siding just over
the New York City line was blown
over this city felled 85 men and
women.
Nine person* were, taken to Mount
Vernon Hospital, where, ft was sSid,
two of them had been seriously af-
fected in the lungs by the choking and
corrosive fumes.
The victims were workers in indus-
trial plant* and warehouses on the
southern edge of the city. As the gas
swept over the <!ity men and women
staggered out of factory buildings
coughing 'and choking.
