Laredo, Texas, June 24.—Plans for
the international road races to be. run
over the Nuevo Laredo-Monterrey
paved highway from -Npevo Laredo to
Monterrey on September 4, when the
highway will be closed to traffic fog
about five hours, are ‘being prepared.
The entries will comprise racing car*
modified stock ear*, stock car*, and
motorcyles. Prizes aggregating
about $2,500 will be offered.
The races will be operated under
the direction of Lee Truax. The
course provide'- a straight-away
track 150 mile* in length, one of the
longest in the world. The regular
card of races will be supplemented by
a race for amateur auto drivers from
the Rio Grande in Nuevo Laredo
southyard to the Rio Salando at Sa-
bina* Hidalgo and return, a distance
of about 120 miles.
Professional automobile drivers and
motorcycle riders of Oklahoma,
isiana and Texas have signified
intentions of entering the- races,
a number from other parts of
country have become interested,
to sixty entries are expected.

farms in thi* region are producing
heavier yield* of wheat than had been
figured for this year, and the quality,
is exceptionally good, according to
veteran wheat buyer*. |
Oscar Williams figured hi* wheat
would run around 12 to 15 bushels;
at threshing time it averaged over 25
bushels to the acre. ,
C. B. Simpson reports wheat east
of town to be making frortt 27 to 30
bushels. Mr. Stimpson who has been
buying wheat in this section for many

Farmers around Damsite, 9 miles
southeast of Quanah, lost about one-
third of their wheat crop from bail,
J. L. Elbert, Jr., reported. Still their
wheat will average from 18 to 35
bushels per acre.
The quality is fine, averaging be-
tween 55 and 60 pounds, with high
protein content.
