be a tour director too. I told her
I had been to Pella, Iowa on

Some news that you may
want or need to know about...
The old Palace Theatre on the
square in downtown Brady is
going to open real soon this
month after several months of
remodeling. They will show a
movie then, not sure which
one, but you can bet I am going
to pay them a visit. How cool is
that! It took lots of donations of
time and money to get the the-
atre restored, so proud for
them.
It seems that Gomez
Restaurant in Brownwood is
closed, at least for now, but a
family member wants to
reopen it sometime...
Also, Higginbotham’s in
Brownwood, under the over-
pass is closing, and the good
news is that Buffalo Wild
Wings is going to open up in
Commerce Square and I think
an oil change business is going
to go in where the old Allsup’s
used to be across from
Commerce Square.
I took the day off on
Wednesday and invited my sis-
ter, Judy, to lunch during her
lunch hour. Of course, she
likes East Palace, as I do, so
we had time to chat while she
told me about a job at the Party
Store. Halloween is their
busiest time of the year. They
are having extended hours,
nine to nine and on Sunday
afternoon. The main bosses
came out to check the store
and meet the employees, they
are making plans to expand
the business. Did they want a

Hey You Guys,
The rain bush was putting out
blooms several days before
the rain was to come. Last
Saturday we had a small show-
er which gave us 2 tenths or
so, then this Saturday night,
thunder and lightning was in
the distance to the south and
when I looked out the cloud
was beginning to cover up the
moon. In the morning we had
the wet ground. During
Sunday services the rain came
down pretty good and then it
stopped, but it cooled us off
which made for good nappie
poo in the afternoon. So that is
what I did.
The NASCAR race was on
Saturday evening from
Charlotte, a good race. Friday
night race was good except for
the end when Kyle Bush won,
just cannot his moody ways...
Oh well, life goes on...
We are now in the middle of
the month of October and it
has been a busy time here.
Had to have my car tags, an
inspection, and wiper blades
for the car this month, so that
is taken care of for the year,
then the taxes come
in...school and hospital taxes
have gone up... no rest for
the weary.
Wow! We have lost so many
of our friends this year! We
had three this week alone. On
Saturday morning I went into
town and stopped at the funer-
al home to sign the guest book
for Helen Smith, Alvie Stoup,
and Bonnie Wilson. I then
went on to the Heritage Hall to
volunteer there at the County
Museum for part of the day
until Maxine Cope came to fin-
ish the day.
That’s where I wrote most of
these news, even though it got
busy when the DAR ladies
came in for their meeting. I
met some of the members. I
did have time to chat with Ola
Jean Alderson. She told me

BUSK HOMECOMING is
scheduled for Sunday,
November the 24th. As
usual, the function will be
held at the Gouldbusk
Community Center.
We will be honoring all who
are in attendance - who were
ever students and attended
school at Gouldbusk - ele-
mentary - or even those who
might be there who actually
graduated from Gouldbusk
High School.
If you have any old pictures
of the town - and/or the
Gouldbusk school, please
bring them. That day - we
will be asking former stu-
dents to share their memo-
ries of your school days there
(if they won’t incriminate any-
one still living).
Turkey - ham - drinks and
bread will be provided. You
are asked to bring a covered
dish.
The Mozelle High School
Class of 1951 recently gath-
ered for a class reunion.
They met at Hidalgo’s in
Coleman on Friday - for
lunch and several hours of
serious visitation. There was
even a goodly portion of
slightly jaded memories -
recalling HOW GOOD THEY
REMEMBERED themselves
as being. Billy Joe Martin
drove from Hattiesburg,
Mississippi - and the locals
who attended were: Bob and
Mona - Doyle Glynn Roberts
and Willeen - H.M. Duncan
and Maureen - Allen Turner -
Wanell McClellan Thomas -
Red Pyburn and Janie. That
evening - some of them
attended the Panther Creek
Homecoming football game -
and met at the 50 yard line
for burgers - and a “wee bit”
more story exchanging.
They were joined at the
game by Jinks Jamison as
well. It should be noted that
this included 8 members of
the Class of 51 - out of a
graduating class of only 18.
Humor for this week...
Have you heard about the
little girl sitting and watching
her mother do the dishes at
the kitchen sink? She sud-
denly notices that her mother
has several strands of white
hair sticking out in contrast to
her brunette hair.
She looks at her mother and
inquisitively asks, “Why are
some of your hairs white,
Mom?” Her mother replied,
“Well, every time that a little
girl does something wrong
and makes her mommy cry
or makes her unhappy, one
of her hairs turns white.”
The little girl thought about
this revelation for a while and
said, “You must have been
really bad to Grandma.”
store they are now in? Since
Mrs. Brown agreed to do so,
they hope to take up two of the
next door offices, in the same
building and use that. It’s all to
take place after all is taken
care of.
I went in the store and picked
up some things, and it’s amaz-
ing to me how much Halloween
stuff they have! Then that
comes down and up goes
Christmas. It’s already being
put out in Wally World and
Alco...everybody wants to be
first...
If you like real country music,
the traditional kind, you should
pick up the CD by Vince Gill
and Paul Franklin. It was given
three stars by People maga-
zine, called Bakersfield. They
sing Merle Haggard and Buck
Owens’ greatest songs and do
a great job. It’s hard to tell who
is singing, they blend so well. I
picked it up at Hastings.
Our friend Annie Mae Brimer
has been in and out of the
Coleman hospital now, she is
doing fair. We love her and
pray for her, she is a fine lady...
Bob and Mona Turner, and
Steven Saloman, Bennett and
Sue Ragsdale, Dick and
Virginia Jamison, and Jinks
Jamison were some that
attended the Farm Bureau din-
ner and meeting in Coleman
on Thursday evening.
Well, my friend for many
years, has sold his farm and
moved to Abilene. Kenneth
Mulanax who lived near Glen
Cove for several years sold his
place to a young couple from
Houston, and hope to enroll
their children in Panther Creek
School in January. I worked for
Kenneth’s wife, Jeanette, for a
while before she passed away
and then continued helping
Kenneth. We also traveled on
some trips with some of my
friends in his van. Sometime
soon there will be an estate
sale at the farm, if you wish to
come. I will know when the
sale will take place, it will be
advertised. Kenneth is living at
Royal Estates on Antilley Road
in Abilene.
I went into Bealls department
store while in Brownwood just
as the doors were opened. I
saw a lady mopping the floors
toward the back. I greeted her
with good “morning” in
Spanish. She replied, and I
stopped by to chat with her.
She told me she lived in
Brownwood, and had another
job in another business there. I
asked her if the pay was good,
and she shook her head and
said “No, just the minimum,
and no bonus for Christmas.” I
told her that was no surprise to
me.
