More than a week had passed since an 18-wheel-
er had backed into the electric pole on the corner
of N. Neches and Plum and repairs had yet to be
scheduled. City workers had braced the pole, but
due to the Public Works Department being short
staffed, the repair was on hold. When Terry Hyden
heard that the City of Coleman was unable to im-
mediately replace the pole, he knew he could call
on his brother David for help.
David Hyden just happens to be the Electric Su-
pervisor for the City of Mason and a Coleman na-
tive. He and other City of Mason employees grabbed
their equipment and arrived in Coleman at 9:00
a.m. on Friday, March 9. By 2:00 p.m. the small
Mason crew, comprised of David Hyden, John Pala-
cio, City Manager, Joe Martinez, Public Works, Matt
Clark and David’s son, Matt Hyden, had completed
the replacement and wiring of the new pole with as-
sistance from City of Coleman workers.
The City of Mason is not seeking reimbursement
for any expenses. Just one city helping another.

Diane Adams was recently named
the new editor for the Coleman
Chronicle & Democrat Voice. Diane’s
first day on the job was Friday, March
9. Diane said, “I’m very excited about
working for the Coleman Chronicle &
Democrat-Voice and learning about
the newspaper business. I am also
looking forward to serving the com-
munity and getting to know every-
one.”
To that end, Diane hit the streets
of Coleman the very next day to cover
the opening of the 410 Gallery and
has not slowed down since. She is
working diligently to learn the local
newspaper inside and out.
Diane has worked as a freelance
writer for 10 years. She got her start
to be full fledged officer again, but said, “This is a
challenge that I would greet head on.”
His response to the possibility of running for the
constable position in the November election was,
“We’ll see how the next six months goes.” With the
time for filing already passed for the November elec-
tion, Chambers would be a write in candidate should
he choose to run for the position.
Judge Billy Bledsoe thanked Chambers for agree-
ing to take the position and said, “We really would
like to see the constable around the courthouse
more, maybe doing some of the duties of the con-
stable, serving paper and bailiffing JP Court. Going
forward, in the years to come, when the Sheriff’s Of-
fice is located elsewhere, we certainly would like to
see the constable more visible at the courthouse.”
The 410 Gallery, a venue for displaying artwork
for sale, held its Grand Opening on Saturday, March
10th. The opening featured photographic work by
owner Robert Williamson, and line drawings by Wil-
liamson’s daughter, Zadie, as well as a reception in-
cluding wine and snacks for visitors.
“Our purpose is to sell art and to expose people
to it. My wife, daughter and brother are artists as
well, so art is something that is important to me”,
Williamson said. Williamson’s photographic work
centers around Texas landscapes and subjects, in-
cluding detailed black and white studies of horses.
“My inspiration is iconic Texas imagery. I love na-
ture and being out with animals”, Williamson stated.
Zadie Williamson is following in the family’s artistic
tradition. “I plan to go to art school,” she said, “but I

the role of editor for multiple publi-
cations both online and in print. Di-
ane currently writes for Texas Living
magazine, where she creates articles
about Texas history. She also cur-
rently writes for an author fan site of
Scottish novelist and pastor George
MacDonald, where she submits a
weekly devotional based on MacDon-
ald’s work. Diane is a published poet,
and has written for the Canadian po-
etry magazine, The Eclectic Muse, as
well as, the poetry website, The Hyper-
Texts, com.
Diane grew up in the Shenandoah
Valley of Virginia and moved to Texas
24 years ago. She now lives in Cole-
man, Texas with her husband, David,
and two sons. Diane enjoys horses,
books, and a good chess match.

would also like to stay in Texas, close to home.”
The 410 Gallery describes itself as “a curated col-
lection of fine art and essentials to elevate daily liv-
ing, promoting artists and craftsmen.” The Gallery
welcomes art lovers, the curious and any aspiring
artists out there to stop in and see what is new. “We
are exploring a variety of art styles and mediums to
feature in the gallery that will be of interest in our
venue”, said Gallery Assistant, Connie True. Those
interested in learning more about the creative pro-
cess could consider volunteering at the Gallery as
well. “Tell anyone who wants to come on by,” Mr.
Williamson said. Artists and craftsmen interested in
showing their work at the Gallery can contact Con-
nie True at 325-636-3403. The 410 Gallery is located
at 410 S. Commercial Ave. in Coleman and is open
Friday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm/5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and
Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm/6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.,

Phil Chambers was appointed Coleman County
Constable by the Coleman County Commissioners
Court at their regular meeting on Monday, March
12. The Constable position was vacated when Joe
Watson resigned at the December 27, 2017, Com-
missioners Court meeting. Chambers applied for the
position and has agreed to serve until the November
election.
Chambers honorably retired from the Coleman
Police Department in December 2016 as a sergeant
and a detective. Chambers said, “I look forward to
serving both the Commissioners Court and the citi-
