The Present Truth
One of history's outstanding
stories is found in Genesis. It is the
story of a young man who, in the
desperation of fleeing for his life,
found his beloved and fell madly in
love. The story is filled with
treachery, pathos, determined faith
and a prophecy of the coming of a
PWCC Meets
On April 9
In Pearsall
The Lions Club Civic Center was
the meeting place Tuesday, March
13th for a delightful luncheon and
program featuring Mindy Hurt of
Dilley with a display and demon-
stration of needlepoint. Adding a
maaculine touch to the meeting was
Ken Dillard, who sang two numbers
as well as providing the delicious
ham lunch. His comment about
being the only man there and being
sent back to the kitchen after he
sang was well received by the ap-
proximately 60 ladies present. The
speaker for the day was the well-
known author and lecturer, Eleanor
Searle Whitney McCollum of
Houston. Her book, “Invitation to
Joy” is the exciting story of her life
as Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt
Whitney, their life together and her
many travels abroad, as well as her
acquaintance with many well-known
personalities.
An exciting program is planned
for the April 9th meeting. High
school seniors, Veronica Olivares,
Annalisa Beall, Denise Winfield,
Sonia Cubriel, Gene Ann Weaver.
Kammi Kothmann, Renee Trevino
and Bethany Beever will model their
prom dresses at a “Spring Garden
Party." Music for the day will be
sung by Denise and Grady Watson, a
talented and popular duo from
Pearsall. Speaker for the day will be
Lynn Terrell of Carrizo Springs.
Texas. Reservations can be made
for the luncheon, by calling Dale
Martin 334-3710, Ann Smith 334-4662
or if you live in Dilley, call Mindy
Hurt at 966-1492. The cost of the
luncheon is just $6.75. Call and make
your reservations today.
left-handed people who would inherit
the land. The final result of this love
story is the birth of one who became
"The son of my right hand.”
God s precise timing is always
evident in the lives of those who walk
in the Spirit, and so it was with
young Jacob. His story begins in the
twenty-ninth chapter of Genesis in
the Old Testament and is one that
speaks much to us today, especially
as we near the greatest event that
history has ever known;
Even as Jacob found the will of
God for his life, so today you can find
God’s will for your life if you will
allow the Spirit of God to lead and
guide your steps. God is looking for a
people today that will take Him at
His word and believe what the Bible
says. God is at work in theChurch
today producing the Overcomer,
those who will stand in the day of
battle and minister life to a lost and
drying world. The Church of the
Lord Jesus Christ has been lulled to
sleep by an unscriptural escape
oriented teaching that will catch
God’s people unawares. But praise
God there is a voice of one crying in
the wilderness today, a voice crying
out in the church and to the church
that it is time to leave childish things
behind and put on the whole armor
of God in order to stand, as Paul
wrote to the church, in the evil day.
God's Spirit is in the world today
looking for men and women, boys
and girls who will submit their lives
to the Word of the Lord, and believe
God. I urge you, my beloved friend,
to find a fellowship of believers who
take God's Word for what it is, the
Word of Truth, and where acting on
that Word, God confirms it with
signs and wonders and miracles.
The local New Testament Church is
God’s place of protection and safety
for the people of God and those who
will not come under the authority of
God will be without Divine
protection even as those outside the
house when God sent the death angel
throughout the land of Egypt.
Beloved, find a church home and
be faithful to it, with prayer, in-
tercession, attendance and giving.
The message of this hour is "come”.
Let us rejoice and be ready, for the
great Day of the Lord is upon us!

Maybe he thought that was pretty
light and something he could just take
in stride. But what he didn't know,
was that a conviction of marijuana
possession no matter what the
sentence is a felony. What he lost
was the right to vote, the right to
own a gun and the right to run for
public office.
He can never be a licensed doctor,
dentist, certified public accountant,
engineer, lawyer, architect, realtor,
school teacher, barber, funeral

He can never work for the city,

He can never get a job where they

he cannot be admitted to West Point.

Shakespeare once said "What
fools men are who put that in their
mouths which scrambles their
brains.” He was speaking about
alcoholic beverages, but the truth
behind what he said, applies to any
kind of drug But I can’t think of a
greater fool than one who gets in-
volved in any way with illegal drugs
When talking to a young man once
who was a user of marijuana, and
who had been convicted of
possession of the drug, he said "he
didn't lose much." He said that
because he received a suspended
sentence.

Who was the most unlikely
disciple? The least likely to suc-
ceed? The Samaritan woman of John
4: 5-42 with the bad reputation. When
she said: "Come and see the man
who told me everything I have ever
done,” the whole town came run-
ning. Who would dare to confront
this woman? Would 1 like to know
everything that she has ever done!
Have you ever seen her this excited?
This woman was the outcast of
Sychar, drawing water in the heat of
the noonday sun. The ’good’ women
of the town would not let her go with
them in the cool of the early mor-
ning. But it was she who gave a
drink of water to Jesus. He revealed
her personal life. "You have
me-ried to five men, and the
you live with now is not really
husband.” He challenged

religious faith: "You Samaritans do
not really know whom you worship."
This woman was strong, smart
and determined. After all she had
survived as the worst woman in
Sychar. When Jesus brought up her
personal life, she changed the
subject. When He questioned her
religion, she looked to the future.
But when Jesus said: ”1 am he,” it
was all over. She received God's
grace and spread the Good News.
"Many of the Samaritans in that
town believed in Jesus because the
woman had said, "He told me
everything I have ever done.’ ”
Some still resented her: “We believe
now. not because of what you said
but because we ourselves have
heard him. and we know that he
really is the Savior of the world." No
matter! She had lead her town to
Jesus. Why don't you?

Christians And
Government
The Bible teaches that government is
ordained of God (Rom. 13). We who
know Jesus as our personal Saviour are to
be in subjection to the laws of the Lord.
The Bible further teaches that we are to
pray for those in political authority I
want to encourage everyone to pray for
°ur elected officials
Several years ago, a lady complained to
me about a drunken elected official. I
immediately asked her if she had voted in
the past election, and she replied. "No!”
My response to her was, "Don’t complain
to me about our officials if you did not
vote; I do not have time to listen to you!’’
We will be having an election Satur-
day. In our form of
democratic government, we have the
right to vote. As Christians, we are duty
bound to be involved in the electoral sys-
tem. Vote Saturday
Brother Lee Guerrero, pastor of
the City of God Mission will hold a
revival in Rosita Coahuila. Mexico,
