Sunday Night
Baccalaureate services
held at 7:30 for the Shiner High
School Seniors Sunday night in
the High School gymnasium
with a large crowd in attend-
ance.
All the churches called off
their evening services for the
special service and to honor
the graduates.
Standards of cut flowers and
greenery formed the modest but
1 appropriate stage decorations.
In their stately caps and
gowns, the girls all white, the
KT boys dark blue, the class march-
K- ed down the center aisle to
their positions, as Mrs. William
Wendtland played the proces-
sional Pontificale by Gounod
and at the close Institute March
from Michael.
The Rev. S. R. Horwood, pas-
tor of the Methodist Church,
spoke the invocation.
The Lutheran Choir render-
ed two beautiful anthems,
“Show Us Thy Way” by Ruht-
S. Drake and “He Will Guide
Me” by Forest G. Walter. Mrs.
Raymond Dierksen directed the
choir with Mrs. V. G. Stindt at
F the piano. A
Superintendent Neal B. Fox
introduced the Rev. Thomas
I Collins, assistant pastor of Shi-
| ner Catholic Church, who ad-
■ dressed the class on the Parable
of the Talents. Rev. Collins
gleamed an inspiring and chal-
. lenging message to the young
L people. They were admonished
p to develop each and every tal-
ent for God and Country. In
the troubled world of today the
speaker said talents were need-
ed for the good of community,
nation and the world and in
concluding he stressed the im-
portance of developing talents
to benefit humanity and not as
k we see in the communist world
today gifted talents used to per-
secute humanity.
As Rev. Collins stated, what

of schools and colleges the na-
