Riley schedules performances
Wylie native Joey Riley will pel
form two shows Saturday at the
Garland Performing Arts Center.

Riley has been performing with
the Mickey Gilley Show in Branson
Mo. He plays steel guitar and fiddle
and does comedy scenes. Before

Wylie Opry.

Garland play to feature
Sachse resident Palmour
GARLAND-Sachsc resident
Cheryl M. Palmour has been cast as
Miss Tweed, the leading lady in
Garland Civic Theatre’s upcoming
musical-mystery “Something '.v
Afoot."
The show opens Thursday and
runs through Feb. 6 at the Garland
Performing Arts Center, on the cor-
ner of Fifth and Austin streets.
Palmour’s role in the production
is modeled after Agatha Christie's
Miss Marple's character and the
play is a spool of Christie s most
famous stories
The tale begins with 10 people
visiting an old English Manor They
soon find themselves cut off from
civilization and one of them is sud-
denly murdered. Miss Tweed must
investigate the crime.
Palmour was last seen on the
GCT stage as Romaine in “Witness
for the Prosecution." Her other
roles have included Governor Pilate
in “Cotton Patch Gospel. " Truvy in
“Steel Magnolias" and Sister
Amnesia in “Nunsense." She has
also appeared as Martha of Bethany
in "The Promise" at Glen Rose.
The musical was written by
James McDonald, Robert Gerlach
and David Voss with additional
music by Ed Linderman. It will be
directed by Barbara Robinson
Performance times are 8 p.m.
Ihursday. Friday and Saturdays.
There will be 2 p.m. matinees
Sunday Jan. 29, Feb. 5 and 6.
Tickets are $12 to $18 (plus ser-
vice charge). Group discounts are
available.
