Several millions taxpayers al-
so are required to file declara-
tions of estimated income tax
for 1949 by March 15. The filing
of tax estimates is separate
rom the filing of returns in
1948 income. The tax estimartc
declaration is made on Form
1040-ES. You can get these
forms from a collector’s office.
Most wage earners need not
lie tax estimates. But you must
file an,.ostimate if in 11119 you
expect to receive wages sub-
ject to withholding in excess of
$4500, plus $600 for each ex
emption you claim.
■ For example, you file an es-
timate if your withholding wag-
es are expected to be more than
$5700 and you are married and
fil^ a joint return.. Or if you
are single with one exemption
besides yourself and expect to
receive morq. than $5700. Also
you must file an estimate if you
expect to receive income of
more' than $100 from sources
other than withholding wages.
When you file an-estimate you
also made the first quarterly
payment on-your estimated tax
for 1949.} You make the other
quarterly payments on or. be-
fore June 15, Sept.
and January 15,1950. Farmers
are not required to make their
first estimate and payment un-
til Jan. 15. I |
If the facts later indicate that
a taxpayer's income will be
more or less than he estimated
in his March 15 declaration, he
is allowed until Jan. 15, 1950,
to make an “amended” estimate.

girls’ volley ball and
playground ball were the only
events.
In playground ball Mrs. Smo-
thers’ team won a very decisive
victory over Breslau and Witt-
ing. Breslau defeated Witting.
In volleyball the Breslau girls
won over Witting and Sweet
Home. The boys’ volley ball
was not finished owing to time.
We appreciate the assistance
of Prin. Henry Lucke and Miss
Dorothy Maresh of Witting and
Mrs. Smothers of Sweet Home.
Besides keen competition, good
sportsmanship and a spirit of
sociability we all received a
boost to our school spirit.
