TEEN
I guess all teenage girls
Loathe the mere thought of
having to war* eyeglasses.
Glasses? Ugh! The horribly
s.ckening idea is one of those
placed in the far reaches of
“I’d Rather-tForgeft-It Land."
I know I can teE you.
You see. I'm a teenage girl.
Yeah, I’m one of those crea-
tures with all the weird com-
plexes. And the “eyeglasses
thought” has always been firm-
ly placed in “I’d Rather-Forget-
It Land.” The reason? I-d
rafher forget it. Glasses are
contraptions that really look
great on some girl. But me?
No. Never. Positively never!
Never? My. I hope eternity
last longer! TsYb'et'" might
have lasted six years.
J suppose you've concluded
that I needed correctional len-
ses all six of these years.
Wrong! I may have been blind,
but why jump to conclusions?
I couldn’t read translations
when I saw foreign films .but
I never admitted it* I saw trees

as blobs, but I didn't let on'
I saw four pairs of headlights
on cars, but . . . you know . .
Id rather forget it. Besides,
whv use glasses when you can
see the large “E” on the eye-
chart?
The hardest part came when
I had to break the new's to my
box-friend. After taking a deep,
deep breath. I told him the . .
uh . . news . . over the phone:
“Glasses
‘ Yeah, you know — the
things for x-our eves- Glasses.”
“Oh.’-
“I only have to wear them
when I want to see.”
“Not all the time?’ ’
''■Ha”> No. like I said - - ”
A good babysitter needs a lot more than a way with kids
iae'
Of course a babysitter should like children. And
like taking care of them. But the job also Involves
some pretty big responsibilities.
Caring for little ones means being able to
handle just about any emergency. Because
emergencies often require the use of the
te'ephone, a handy list of important numbers can
do wonders for your sitter’s confidence.
So write down the phone numbers for fire,
pc!ice, medical assistance and the places you’ll be
while out Keep the list right next to the phone,
and remember to call home if your plans change.
