Despite a bit of good-natured
ribbing about the re-election of two
aldermen and the mayor the city of
Llano, the council did manage to
elect a mayor pro-tem and purchase
a road grader in a called meetjng
held Monday night in council
chambers.
All three candidates, Mayor John
Landon1, Aldermen Jimmy Wlaker
and R.L. Adams were unopposed for
re-election to the city council. The
canvass, of the election was accepted
unanimously and the three signed on
the dotted line for another two-year
term.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
all those who supported me and especially
those who worked for my campaign.
Special thanks to Lillian Fowler.
My only promise is that I will try my best to
do what is right for our school, our students
and our school district.

The first order of business was to
elect a mayor pro-tem and Adams
quickly nominated Margaret Pryor to
serve another term in that position.
Eugene Russell called for the
nominations to cease and elect Pryor
by acclamation. Walker seconded
the motion and the vote was
unanimous.
The vote was also unanimous to
purchase a new Caterpillar road-gra-
der from Holt Machinery of San
Antonio. The discount price was1
$76,365 and the city was to pay
$15,000 down and make six pay-
ments of $11.692 each.
Representing Holt Machinery,
which was the only bidder, was Jack
Finney who promised the best of
service and assured the city there
would be parts available if and when
