' , HOUSTON IS going to get much
more strength before the opening of
the season. The infield is bound to be
better-than a year ago. Selph- and
Benson wi I add must strength. The
Buffs must have more pitching pow-
'er, and they need another highly ca-
pablc outfielder. If they.get Homer
Peel,-and there is a rumor afloat that
the Buffs will get him, they yill have
a much better outfield than they had
a year ago. The Buffs may not win a
pennant, but Gardner is all wrong
when he says they won t be danger- ,
ous. They won’t finish lower
third, and if they get a couple
pitchers of the Bell-Hallahan
they are apt to breeze through
pennant.

"The Cleansing Light”
SCRIPTURE: Memory Verse:
“God Is Light,” (I Jojin 1:5.)
Read: I John 1.
MEDITATION: We commonly
think that the chief function of the sun
is to give illumination. But light is
quite as much for cleansing as for il-
lumination. It is the sun .that keeps
the world clean. It destroys impurities
and the places that breed impurities
There are germs and other causes of
disease that cannot live in the sun-
light. Sunshine is the great antisep-
tic. God gives illumination to our
minds but He also cleanses them. No
evil thing can live in the light of His
presence. We often wrestle with evil
when the more effective way of rid-
ding ourselves of it would be to let
God shine in. God’s presence will
cleanse us of sin that may have defied
all our efforts of will. “The Lord is
my light and my salvation.”
PRAYER: O God, Thou great
Light of life who shine,t into every
heart that opens itself to Thee, shine
Thou into our hearts this day. Cleanse
us from all iniquity and lurking evil.
Purify our motives and mpke chaste
our thoughts that the House of our
souls may become sweet and whole-
some. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

believes that his team will come

however, does not fear Houston. He
states that the Buffs as they line up
