Spiritual Message
Ross Blasingame,
Evangelist for White Deer
Church of Christ.
We studied last week
about Jesus’ first temptation
and how he made reference
to the written word as re-
corded in Deuteronomy
8:3 "And he humbled thee,
and suffered thee to hunger,
and fed thee with manna,
which thou knewest not,
neither did thy fathers
know; that he might make
thee know that man doth
not live by bread only, but
by every word that proceeds
eth out of the mouth of the
Lord doth man live. " Moses
is speaking to the children
of Israel, showing that they
depended on the Lord for
manna in their sojourn in
the wilderness.
When we study the Old
Testament, it should esta-
blish our faith in God, as
we observe how God cared
for the children of Israel,
providing for them manna
from heaven also quail in
abundance.
I'm sure that Jesus had
faith in God that he would
not starve, even though he
rejected the devil's sug-
gestion, that he turn the
stones into bread. How
much faith do we have?
Do we take to much on
ourselves? We give God
thanks for all things He
has given us, at the same
time often feel that WE
are indespensible.
We are often more con-
cerned about this life than
the one to come, working
and devoting our every
effort toward accomplishing
great things here and for-
getting God.
So often we are tempted
like Jesus was. Let us pray
to God that we will have
the strength, when temp-
ted by the devil, that we
will be able to stand.
Matthew 6: 24 "No man
can serve two masters, for
either he will hate the
one, and love the other;
or else he will hold to one,
and despise the other. Ye
cannot serve God and mam-
mon. "___

For the next four Friday
nights at 7 p. m. the White

will be holding a course
on certification of being a

for this course will go
toward the estimated 160
hours that are required by
the state to be certified
firemen. This certification
course helps on the key
rate for the city's fire in-
surance.
Bill Marquis of Texas A
& M University will be
conducting the 15 hour
course.
Citys residents are re-
minded that firemen will
sound the siren at 7 p. m.

nights as well as on Mon-
day night as in the past for
regular meetings.
