The Tom Tom’s first annual Car
and Truck Show was a huge success.
There were a total of 44 entries with
six being motorcycles and three in the
kids division. Sponsors for the tro-
phies were: Wendel Motor Company,
Belts Unlimited, Cooper Chevrolet,
Hub City, Woods Body Shop, Tandy
Brands, HEB, and 4x4's of South
Texas.
Door Prizes were donated by:

eration and Hair It Goes.

Women of ELCA hold June meeting
The women of the ELCA of Holy
Cross held their monthly meeting
Thursday, June 5 at the church parish
hall with 34 in attendance for the af-
ternoon. President Joy Janak wel-
comed all and Pastor Gary opened
with prayer.
The monthly devotional was pre-
sented by Lillian Mantey and June
birthday honorees were Betty
Borchers, Ruth Barre and Marie
Harbers. They were honored with a
poem "June Birthday Wishes" and all
joined in singing happy birthday.
The June program was presented
by Maxine Goodson on the Art of
Stained Glass. We enjoyed her pro-
gram and admire her talents working
the stained glass.
The Lutheran World Relief sew-
ing group will not sew this summer
however they will start again in Sep-
tember. Thanks to all who have
helped the past year and help is al-
ways appreciated. Come and spend
the day and enjoy sewing and Chris-
tian fellowship.
In July, the group w ill have Thank
offering and the program will be
given by Pastor Gary on "The Life of
an Army Chaplain". Women are
urged to attend the monthly meeting
and social and enjoy the program,
fellowship and light refreshments

Amy Pustka wins $10,000 scholarship
On Saturday, Feb. 22, the follow-
ing teams represented Lavaca County
and competed in various competitions
against 60 other counties during the
2003 Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo at the New Reliant Center.
Lavaca County is in District 8 with
Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Gonzales
and Wharton Counties.
Lavaca County came in first place
in District 8, won second place Over-
all and won Amy Pustka a $10,000
scholarship Amy will receive $2,500
a year for four years She is the daugh-
ter of Robert “Bob" and Maggie
Pustka and is a Senior at Hallettsville
High School
Amy plans to attend Texas A&M
University at College Station

Que Contest pitted teams from
around the world in competition for
best chicken, brisket and pork spare
ribs, and overall best barbecue
Horseshoe and washer pitchers com-
peted in a roundrobin tournament.
Team penning competed with three
riders cutting from the herd and pen-
ning three head of cattle with the
same identification number Domino
players played singles "cut throat"
tournament.

Committee thanks everyone who par-
ticipated and helped make this year a
success.
