OXNARD, Calif. — The NFL
Players Association filed a grievance
Monday against the Dallas Cowbqys
on behalf of Quincy Carter, claiming
the quarterback was released by the
team for reasons not permitted in the

the 80-man roster the next summer,”
Richard Berthelsen, the unionb gener-
al counsel, said in a statement
The NFLPA filed for a special mas-
ter proceeding that would be heard by
this fall, and we’re just ready to
get the season started.”
Kingwood Will again be the
team to beat this season in district
and this could be the year that
their time on top could come to an
end.
“Kingwood for sure is the team
to beat because they have been at
the top for a while,” Strubbe said.”
They lost some of their players,
but I’m sure they have good play-
ers coming in.”

before the Cowboys practiced
Monday afternoon.
Carter, who started all 16 regular
season games plus their playoff con-
test for the Cowboys last season, was
unexpectedly released by the team
Aug. 4. That leaves 40-year-old Vinny
Testaverde as the team’s only experi-
enced quarterback.
The team has not given specific
reasons for Carter’s release, although
there were widespread reports that he
had failed a drug test. Parcells and
Jones have been vague publicly, but
the owner has said he was willing to
discuss the reasons with the league or
the players association.
