BAYTOWN - Second
Baptist Church of Baytown will
present a revamped perfor-
mance of “Celebrate America”
to the public this Sunday.
This will mark the second
year for the event, which is also
being sponsored by the Kiwanis
Club of Baytown and the Robert
E. Lee and Ross S. Sterling high
school key clubs. This year’s ,
show has been touted as a more
theatrical performance, signal-
ing a departure from last year’s
all-musical act.
“This year, we have crafted a
script so there are softie
vignettes, all are of our found-
ing fathers and their discussions
on founding documents,” said
Jack Hall, music pastor at
Second Baptist Church.
“Eveiything is historically accu-
rate. All of the lines by the
founding fathers are original
quotes taken from different
books and transcripts.”
Hall said the vignettes will
contain history that most never
learned in school.
In addition to the skits, the
Second Baptist choir of about
60 will perform several musical
favorites including “America,"
“This is My Homeland,” “God
Bless America,” “Swing, Low
Sweet Chariot” and “Proud To
Be American.”
There will also be a special
musical tribute to the Sept. 11
terror attacks. The church will

“We will also have a patriotic
salute to veterans in all branch-

said.
Hall encouraged all veterans
and those who wish to recog-
nize them to attend.
Hall also said all actors in the
performance will be wearing
period-correct costumes.
