I am 1
he will likely discuss my correspondence with you.
you know that I like to see the State’s business run like
private enterprise so as to get dollar value for money
spent and if you can obtain that kind of service here in
^est Texas, which I believe you can, I would appreciate
your giving thia firm serious consideration. I can not
conceive of this firm having the reputation that they do
unless they are pretty good*
This letter is with reference to the proposed construction
program for our state hospitals and special schools.
It has come to my attention that the David S. Castle
Company of Abilene is making application for the Architec-
tural and Engineering services on some of the proposed
construction, Of course I know that the Board will be
obliged to accept the best offer but will consider the
caliber of service that the bidding firms can offer*
Claud, as you know, I’m not an architect but I do know
that the David & Castle Company has a very good reputation
in this part of the country* You know of course that I
am not likely to make such a statement unless I am finaly
convinced* Too, I would like to see a local firm, that is
a West Texas Fira, be employed on these contracts In this
part of the state if their prices are reasonable as I’m
sure " * --- - - - - - -

in business for about thirty-five years and could not
prospered so long had their work been inferior*
