A tip of the hat and two thumbs up to whomever is responsible for the
dress code at Stamford's public Schools. For too long students have been
allowed to dress improperly for school attendance Baggy and ill fitting
clothing truly does make a statement. "Hey. look at me. I’m trash!! I’ll
Dress in style even if I do look trailer park trash. I have to dress this way
so people will accept me and I'll be in the mainstream of popularity.’’
When I was a kid growing up here and attending school, if you wore
loose, ill fitting or baggy clothes, it was an embarrassment. Everyone
knew you were poor and had to wear hand-me-downs*. Things have
changed; what was once a source of embarrassment is now stylish. An-
other negative element to baggy clothes is this; it makes shop lifting much
easier to get away with. I’ll be glad when clothes return to decent and
proper fitting styles again. Perhaps if the students begin to dress properly,
they will begin to take on better and more positive attitudes towards life.
Once again . three cheers for a very wise choice for the students behalf.
