A.F.B. on April 27, 2001. He de-
parted Mon. April 30 for Technical
training at Ft. Leonard wood in Mis-
souri. He is training for vehicle
operations and will graduate there
on June 28. Sean will be stationed
at Eglin A.F.B in Florida.

Show and Awards Program in Rud-
der Auditorium and the Salute to
Excellence banquet in Reed Arena.
Contests continue on June 14 with
agronomy, beef, clothing and tex-
tiles, companion animals, consumer
life skills, family life, farm and
ranch economics, focus on health,
food and nutrition, food show,
horse quiz bowl, horse, horticul-
tural, housing and the home envi-
ronment, meat science, natural re-
sources, open pork, promote 4-H,

and white of Texas AAM Univer-
sity as thousands of 4-H members,
parents, volunteers, friends, and
supporters arrive on campus for
the annual Texas State Roundup,
set for June 11-15 at Memorial Stu-
dent Center. More than 3,000 of
the state’s million-plus 4-H mem-
bers will participate in competitions,
community service projects, spirit
rallies, assemblies, banquets, and
award presentations. Some of them
will receive scholarships through
the 4-H Foundation. Last year the
foundation presented more than $1
million in scholarships.
“Roundup is a key time for high
school-aged members to exhibit
their knowledge in a wide array of
project programs that range from
agricultural to home economics,
and business to personal develop-
ment specialist." The week-long
event will kickoff with registration
public speaking, rifle, safety and
accident prevention, sheep and
goats and Share the Fun.
Attending from Jones County
and their contests are: Brennon
Manske, Josh Propst, Jamie
Spraberry, and Travis Spraberry-
Dairy Judging; Conley Rasor-Mu-
sical Share-the Fun; Cassidy
Pritchard and Casey Spraberry-
County Government Method Dem-
onstration. Accompanying the 4-
H'ers are: Minnie Rasor, Cathy
Pritchard, Kay Spraberry, Todd
Vineyard and Martha Alice
Spraberry.

Honors at UTA
In recognition of outstanding
academic achievement, Annette
Davidson, has achieved a grade
point average of 4.0 for the Spring
2001 semester. Annette is the
daughter of Robert and Barbara
Wingrove of Stamford. She was a
graduate of Stamford High School
in May of 2000.
Annette is a Junior at the Uni-
versity of Texas in Arlington,
Texas, with a double major in In-
ternational Business and German.
We would like to thank Ken Roberson
and the City Council for letting Johnny
and Kala Pace have the Marina.

The Ruth Sunday School class of First Baptist Church met Monday,
June 4, 2001 at the home of Mrs. Doris McLemore for a lunch at 10:00
a.m.
The guest were welcomed by Bobbie Glenn, president and co-host with
Vera Mae Denson and Doris McLemore.
Round tables were covered with floral tablecloths, the plates and nap-
kins coordinated with the colors in the clothes.
Peggy Childress, guest gave the devotional taken from a book “Hugs
for Women” by Mary Hollingsworth and she closed with a prayer.
A delicious brunch was served to 15 guest Delma Davis, Louise Grimm,
