down. A pass from Garrett to
Sparr took the ball to midfield.
Runs by Mooney and Sloan
gained five yards. Garrett found
Sparr alone in the middle and
the receiver raced 45 yards into
the end zone. Morton tried to
run for a two point conversion,
but he was stopped.
Wade Ivy gained 14 yards on
three carries for the Bulldogs,
but a five yard penalty left them
still facing fourth and one. An-
other penalty pushed the ball
back to the Stamford 30 for
Alvarado’s punt.
Hawley had 1:14 left on the
clock when they took over on
their own 36. Passes to Sloan
and Sparr moved the ball to the
Stamford 24. Polk caught a
pass and was dragged down
just short of the goal line with
under a minute left in the game.
The Bearcats tried to punch the
ball across with Mooney but
Thomas Bolin met him head on
and stopped the touchdown.
