comeback, allowing
Breckenridge to take decisive
57-31 lead into the fourth quar-
ter.
Coleman again struggled to
take care of the ball down the
stretch, turning it over eight
times in the final quarter.
"Breckenridge is very long
and tall and we couldn't match
up with them," Elder said.
"They're bigger and taller than
us, but we did the best we
could against their size."
So effective was the
Breckenridge defense that
from the 5:58 mark of the third
quarter until the end of the
game, the Lady Bucks main-
tained a lead of 24 points or
more — scoring 16 second-
half points on layups.
"It was a roller coaster ride
this season, but I wouldn't
have traded it for anything,"
Elder said. "In district play, we
really stepped up and showed
what we could do so I'm proud
of our season."

TUSCOLA - You know
you're struggling when you
have more turnovers than
made field goals.
And in the case of the
Coleman girls during
Tuesday's Region I-3A bi-dis-
trict game against
Breckenridge, the Bluekatts
struggled from start to finish in
a 71-39 loss at Jim Ned High
School.
Carri Yarbrough scored 22
points and Kaitlyn Ellis tossed
in 20 more to lead
Breckenridge (19-12), which
now advances to face Sonora
(25-5) in the area round.
Coleman, which was forced
into 25 turnovers while hitting
only 15 of 48 shot attempts (31
percent), finished its season at
15-22.
The Bluecatts were led by
Kloe Hale with 13 points.
Sierra Jauregui, Emily Milward
and Ashlyn Delagarza had four
each.

PROUD TO SUPPORT OUR

You don’t have to own a business to support the

a lot of pressure on the ball all
week — even when we went to
a zone," Breckenridge coach
Ky Graham said. "We take a lot
of pride in our defense and we
want to make sure that we're
pressuring the ball.
"I thought our press worked
well at times and our girls did a
good job of getting some
turnovers and some easy
buckets."
That was the trend right from
the beginning, with
Breckenridge opening the
game on a 7-0 run.
The Lady Bucks never trailed,
and after forcing 15 first-half
turnovers, they had gradually
built a 39-20 advantage by
halftime.
"Turnovers killed us,"
Coleman coach Jessica Elder
said. "Any time you have that
many turnovers, you can't win
ballgames."
Coleman did manage to take
better care of the basketball in
the third quarter, cutting its
miscues to only two over eight
minutes. But a 4-of-16 shoot-
ing effort during the period crip-
pled their efforts to mount a
