We reached Wellington, the rex

to Me Donald's Cafe for dinner We
found a table waiting for us at this

wanted was furnished without money
We tried to pay the cashier And were

waterworks are too small for the
city's needs. They pipe the water
from about 2 miles out in the country

Our next stop was at Memphik
where we found the streets all tom
up and paving going on. The mayor
of Memphis was in Kansas City and
the city secretary could not be lo-
cated, so we called at the office of
the Light ami Power Co., where their
genial secretary gave us the informa- !
tion we were looking for. This gen- j
tieman worked for the city while the*
city had charge of the light plant.
This plant was put in by the city for
$43,000. run about 17 months and sold
to the present owners. The city made
a profit of *22.000 on the transaction. ,
Clarendon was the next stop,
found the mayor out of town,
managed to learn their rates
something of the way they conduct
to their light and water vs- ' affair* in that progressive little city.
Wo reached home at 9 p. m., hav-
ing put in a hard .lay’s work, but
feeling that we lad learned enough
