A last quarter rally brought
the Cuero Gobblers i 29-21
victory over the St. Joseph
Flyers A team Thursday night
to give the local basketball
players a double win at Cuero Gym.
The B team won 23-18 in the first
game.
The Gobblers went into the last
quarter trailing, 20-19, but stout de-
fensive play coupled with sharp
shooting of Verlin Trautwein and
Charles Coker pulled the contest out
of the fire. i
11 To 7 Lead
An early scoring spree led by
Coker gave the Gobblers an 11-7
lead at the end of the first quarter,
but a Flyer rally knotted the count
in the second period at 15-15.
Trautwein led the scoring with 12
points, followed by Coker with 10.
Louis Smolik paced the Flyer point
making with eight. Trautwein and
Eugene Adams led the Ouero de-
fense and played a fine floor game,
while Billy Cattan and Bill Har-
low did the same for the Flyers. I
In the B game the Cuero five took
a lead in the first quarter and led
the rest of the contest. Leading, 9-5t
