BY DAVID CLARK Six places were given in fojd.
The Stamford Public Schools each of eight divisions,. First
.‘.'ixmsored a science fair Fri-' three places went to: Phs-
day night from 6 o’clock to 9
at the National Guard Armory
in Stamford. Students who
were contestants in the event
had been preparing thgir en-
tries for weeks before^/ the
meet. .
There were ten divisions .in
the science fair, ranging front
fourth grade “elementary stu-
dents to senior' physics. The
exhibits were placed on rows
of tables and filled the jqrge
main ropm of the armory
building.
Some observers remarked
t|iat**thore were more entries
than at the Abilene regional
science fair, and that the dis-
plays werg of just as high
quality as thote presented at
regional.
. ...James Wilson, „ the chem-
istry anQ physics teacher, re-
marked that he was surprised
at th? quality of the entries.
Several teachers from the
fourth grade up have devoted
a great deal of their tirpe to
the science fair in helping
their students in the construc-
tion of their various, projects.
Mr. Coffman and Mr.
Schoonmaker spent all day
Friday judging the entries.
Displays were judged on
amount of work, originality,
how set up, and to other de-
tails relating to the invividual
project.
There was a good -showing
of inteiestfd vjsitors at the
science fair from six o’clock
until it was scheduled to end
at nine. Teachers who gave*
specialized help to students in
the meet were Mr. Wilson,
Forest Fountain, Kevil Coif-
man, Joe Bob Earles, Tommy
Schoonmaker, and all the
eleifientary grade teachers.
A list of some of the dis-
plays that earned firsts in th?
meet included a steam power,
model, a model of a water
molecule, a layout of the ‘
human organs, a DNA mod^teT .
a display oh the embryo oF*a ’ -PMBnically, a diamond is
chicken, a moon model, ,p _i *’* ■**-—
walking robot, a two first
place geological displays.
