sage which is also a salvia, have
been known for their healing
properties in various cultures
over the centuries. Modem rem-

no names or except for the names of the Stamford business. The Yates Drug store is in
Business Directory so that’s 99years ago. The wagon business is not in the directory with that name. Yates drug I am told is where
Bunkley drug was located a few years ago. This picture shows alot of history in the clothes from the knickers to the long dresses.
Hello Summertime. It may be
i time to take the electric blan-
; kets off the beds. We hope ev-
eryone had a nice holiday week-
end.
I went to the Avoca Home-
coming for the class of 1947
last weekend. My Uncle Billy
Buske was a member of this
class. He died in April and he
: had told me if he could not be
there to please go in his place.
It was a fun group, with sing-
. ing from the McLellans about
eating butter beans (cute song)
to stories about the town of
- Avoca and a lot of memories.
My Uncle would have loved
• every minute of it. We don't
1- have any pictures or items from
• Avoca the town or school, if
; anyone has items to 3>hare I’m looking at the pages of the
- please let me know. We could
'< do an Avoca table display.
We have the art work of all
•; the 4th grade on display now at
> the museum. Each drew a pic-
ture of their favorite thing in the
: museum.
We added several items into
our inventory in the last week.
We received 6 framed pictures
of some former police chiefs of
Stamford. The earliest date is a

watering than weeding the gar-

ting established around the

sonage. Last year after I
slacked off on watering in Au-
gust. The salvias did not seem
to mind the dry spell over
much. Salvias were my peren-
nial friends in western North made AlkaSeltzer is more reli-
Dakota which was prone to dry able as long as you can stom-
spells as well. Salvia was the
salvation of many perennial
beds there and there is a reason
' it is available in West Texas as
well. Salvia comes from a Latin
root meaning to heal. I wonder
if salvia’s ability to take root
and keep taking root even dur-
ing the dry times says some-
thing about healing and whole-
ness. Endurance during the dry
times is an asset in the healing
process and growth toward
