"This has been a most pro-
ductive year for cotton grow-
ers in Texas. The demand
for cotton is expected to in-
crease next year. We must
continue to maintain good
control measures. The early
stalk destruction helps to de-
stroy the overwintering hab-
itat for the pink bollworm.
Severe infestation is reduced
for the next cotton season,
Commissioner W hite said.

IT’S LIVESTOCK SHOW
TIME AGAIN !.... At the al-
most-last-minute, Dell Va-
lley decided to have a local
show on January 19... entries
in various classes are numer-
ous - probably the biggest yet,
so the show should be a big
one.... donations for prize
money are being accepted...
... then follows on January
26, the Sierra Blanca Live-
stock Show and after
that, the big International
Show at El Paso.... followed
by a bigger one yet in Hous-
ton!. no wonder time
seems to pass so quickly....
believe Dell Valley, for the
size it is, is the busiest little
place around Nice to
hear from a lady in Stanton,
Texas, this week, who, with
her husband enjoyed the Coun-
ty Fair immensely last year...
and looks forward to coming
back this year.... however,
she expressed a desire that
Dell Valley would soon have
more motel space... and we
agree with her.... our county
fair is bee oming better known
year by year.... out-of-coun-
ty interest seems to be increa-
sing along with increased
county interest.... and I hope
it will always remain a bona-
fide "County Fair"... and to
be so it will have to contin-
ue having much local and
county interest. .
We hope that the hospital
list for Dell Valley decrea-
ses this next week... there
have been numerous illness-
es in the last month or two..
Everyone w ill miss
Jimmy Napier, who for his
90 years, still had a zest for
living which showed from
the tw inkle in his eye as he
spoke with his definite Sco-
ttish accent. .... Mr. Na-
pier died a few days short
of his 90th birthday. ......
Our condolences to Jack
Caldwell and his family ov-
er the loss of his father this
week.
