Portraits on display for Texas Histoiy Month
Tommy Meekins and Baytown Historical Museum director Wanda Mitchell stand with portraits of Sam
Houston, left, and David Crockett—two of four portraits Meekins has loaned the museum to display this
week as part of Texas History Month. The donation also includes portraits of James Bowie and Stephen
F. Austin. Meekins said the four portraits are part of a series of 10 portraits commissioned by the Moody
Foundation about 50 years ago. The series, "The Heroes of Texas" was originally displayed in the Lone
Star Theater and Museum in Galveston. The four portraits will be on display at the museum through -

Quite a few people in the
McNair area have asked James
Fretty how passage of Goose
Creek’s proposed $220.5 mil-

their property taxes.
To answer this question and
address separate concerns about
law enforcement, and neighbor-

to organize a town hall meeting.
“It will give the people
around this area a chance to
hear from the school superin-

they think [the bond] is neces-

affect them,” said Fretty, presi-
